Mam bottles full of bubbles

I have recently made the transition from anti colic Tommee Tippee bottles to Mam bottles to try to aid my 4 week old baby’s trapped wind problems. However, the mam teats always end up completely full of bubbles when he’s feeding? I’m holding it up as high as I can. Any ideas why this is happening? I’ve added a pic from last night when he’d finished his bottle..

What formula you use ?

Avatar

Sometimes it can just be the formula- also if you shake the bottle it will make it look like this. Try swirling it and tipping upside down 💗
BUT if that doesn’t completely mix the formula, I just put a tiny bit of infacol into the bottle (once I shake it) and it gets rid of the bubbles straight away!! And it helps him with his wind xx

Is kind of normal. The air goes above the liquid and when the liquid is finished the bubbles are there. From my experience the bottle type/brand is not making much difference as we tried 3 different bottles at the beginning . What I found really helpful was burping her really well. When she was 1-3 months sometimes I was patting her back for 15-20 min.

I’m using aptimal. We’ve been swirling rather than shaking as I read that it’s not good for windy babies. Feel like it’s one thing after another 🙄😔 if we add infacol to his bottle can we still use gripe water afterwards as we sometimes use this when he seems in a lot of pain? Or is it one or the other? Don’t really what to pump him full of meds but I wish there was more I could do to help

Our lg had trapped wind etc but it turned out to be reflux and not colic like we thought. The Dr put her on omeprazole and sma anti reflux milk and as soon as she was on this she slept well and was no longer in pain.
It was a life changer. You can buy the milk in shops and Amazon. It is thicker so needs a good shake and you’ll likely need size 3 teats.

We have mam bottles too and the bubbles are just formed from the baby sucking in air after the bottle is almost completely empty.

Hope that helps

Not sure if you’re up for trying another bottle but I was using the tommee tippee bottles at first too and my baby had really bad gas. The best bottle I’ve found is the Dr. Brown anti-colic bottles!

Mix the bottles then take off lid for a minute until bubbles settle or swirl the powder in stead of shaking it... takes longer but it works for us

You can still use gripe water too. Sometimes I would give baby infacol before a feed then gripe water after

We switched to mam as my little girl wouldn’t take to tt from newborn. She really struggled with winding for such a long time we were always finding new ways to feed her and new ways to wind her. Rather than shake the bottle we swirl it to prevent any bubbles and we held the bottle straight in line so she could suck as much as she wanted/needed at her own pace rather than holding it upright

Thank you everyone for your replies and advice. I really appreciate this group for the support x

I have noticed that this happens with Aptamil milk - we used Sma pro before and we did not have that many air bubbles hence my question …

Avatar

that’s interesting however we used aptimal with the TT bottles and never had that problem, only since we swapped to mam

Avatar

Never used TT bottles only MAM so I don’t have this experience … but yeah the amount of air bubbles makes me question too and I wonder to change back to sma pro

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵
