Initially he was going to be circumcised at 1 day old while we were in the hospital, however at the time of the procedure they found he has a hypospadias. He has his reconstructive/circumcision procedure this coming Monday; he’s now 6 months.

My baby boy got circumcised at 6 weeks old x

Avatar

They did it at the hospital on the second day of his life. My doctor and the pediatrician that came in said the earlier done the better so we had his done immediately. They let my husband be inside the room I’m not sure what kind of numbing medication they gave our son but my husband said he didn’t cry and it was a quick procedure!

Avatar

He was 3 days old, and thats just because he was born on a friday right after the dr left for the weekend šŸ˜…

Avatar

It was done when he was 1 day old and we were still in the hospital.

Avatar

2 weeks old, wanted to wait 8 days because we did not give vitamin k

Avatar

Our twins were in the NICU so we couldn’t do a bris on the 8th day like we’re supposed to in our religion. We waited until they were home for a month. It was clearly very painful even with the pain meds and quite traumatic for them so I’m not sure what a good age to do it is. I guess I’d say wait until they can make the decision themselves because it’s probably not worth all that pain to a baby.

Avatar

I wasn't going to have him circumcised but ended up needing to due to some reoccurring infection he was having. Was circumcised at about 6 or 7 months

Avatar

Waited approx 6 weeks, but mind you my baby was 6 weeks early so we wanted him to be full term at least

Avatar

My first was 6-7 days old because they wouldn't do it while he was on a CPAP machine. My second was 2 days old, done before he was discharged after birth

Avatar

My two brothers are both circumcised. The eldest got it done as a newborn & it went fine. My youngest brother had it done around 4/5 and it was hell

Avatar

My baby was 4 weeks old, the doctor recommended we do it anytime before 8 weeks of age!

Avatar

Two weeks old! The hospital tried to charge $500 cash only if we did it afterbirth so we went through our primary care physician

Avatar

He was 2 days old. I had my son during Covid so they didn’t let us go in the room. But we watched through like an observation window, they numbed the area 2x to minimize discomfort. My baby sucked the pacifier and did not cry.

Avatar

Literally just commenting to say I didn't/won't circumcise and we're not all judgey and mean lol xx ā™„ļø

From my knowledge, the earlier the better but at the end of the day it's all the same regardless of when it's done, I'd personally wait until they're a little older than first few days (which is also so commonly done) but I really don't think the age matters x

Avatar

The hospital I delivered my first 2 did not offer it. My first was done at his first peds appointment so a few days old, maybe a little over a week. My second needed to be seen by a specialist and he was 2-2.5 weeks old I believe. I’m due with baby #3 next Saturday and this hospital offers to do it there.

Day two in the hospital

Avatar

They did it in the hospital on the 2nd day

Avatar

We did it a day or two after he was born. It was a game day decision. 😜 When he came out, doctor asked us. We decided to do it. Had to wait til the next available operation date. Done!

No need to tell me what your thoughts are. Offering some tip from one mom to another (take it or leave it). If you opt to do it, it's a good idea to schedule it in advance. Some hospitals are booked out for it. We were lucky with ours.

Whatever you decide, kudos to you!

Avatar

3 weeks after he was born. The hospitals don’t do it around here. So we had to find a clinic/doctor who specialized in it.

Avatar

7 ish days old I believe

Avatar

For both my sons it was the day after they were born. I actually had it set up before having them because I was induced with both pregnancies.

Avatar

I did it a couple hours after he was born

Avatar

My son had his 2 days after birth, the morning before we left the hospital. I always knew we would get him circumcised but unfortunately the doctor who did it left too much skin at the bottom and now he will have to have it corrected under anesthesia. I don’t regret getting it done but I regret the location and doctor.

Avatar

he was 2 days old
we did it before we left the hospital & he got the ring

Avatar

The hospital didn't offer it so I got it done around 3-4 weeks after baby was born since it took a while to get an appointment

Avatar

I had it done before we left the hospital. I believe we waited two days there before having it done. It went well! They did leave a small piece of the foreskin on it though, but I’m sure it’ll be nothing to worry about.

Avatar

In the hospital day after he was born

Avatar

We did it before we left the hospital and it went really well

Avatar

We got it done the day after he was born while still in the hospital

Avatar

Day 8

Avatar

The day after he was born while in the hospital still

Avatar

The day after he was born.

Avatar

My first we did the day after he was born in the hospital.
This baby I am not finding out the gender, but if he is a boy then we will circumcise at the pediatricians office at 8 days old.

Avatar

He got it the day after he was born. I asked them about waiting and they told me it’s better to get it sooner than later.

Avatar

I got it done at 2months as it is best as early as possible and he can start taking calpol.

Avatar

I had it a couple days after he was born

Avatar

Hospital, day 8 of nicu hours before discharge. It was also the only reason we elected to give him the vitamin k shot

Avatar

we just got his done two days ago and he is 8 months old, had to wait until 6+ months to go under general anesthesia since it wasn’t done at birth due to possible complications if done then)

Avatar

Day 3 at the hospital…they did it 2 hours before discharge, smh.

Avatar

I had it done immediately.

Avatar

We did our son just under 2months old. We had to go privately as they don’t do it in the hospital unless medically necessary.

Avatar

While we were in hospital

Avatar

Day after birth

Avatar

Two days after birth in hospital but if I could go back I would choose to do it with a pediatric urologist because he had to have it redone due to the hospital Dr not doing it right the first time

Avatar

The whole procedure took maybe 10 minutes. And he healed I want to say maybe two weeks or less. I can’t remember because I had it done when he was 8 months. Urologist said it’s best to do it before 1 and after 6months. Before 1 because they tend to discover their penises then and after 6months because it’s the safest for anesthesia after then.

Avatar

At the hospital 24 hours after birth is what my dr recommended so that’s what we did

Avatar

My son got his 3 days after he was born and it was done at the hospital before we were discharged. We were given the choice to either be present or wait in the room. It took about 20 mins and it wasn’t hard or difficult treating and caring for after. Legit it was just putting ointment or Vaseline on the area with each diaper change for at least 2 weeks

Avatar

We got it done within the first two weeks only do to having to book the appointment. If I could have done it sooner, I would have

Avatar

Got it done when he was 3 weeks old that’s what the surgeon recommended us worked best for us.

Leaking overnight

Any nappy recs advice for nappy leaks at night? My 7 month old has just started consistently leaking, I’ve sized up in nappies and tried Aldi and rascals but no luck.

Has anyone had better results with pull ups? He’s just big enough now I think but I wasn’t sure if Aldi pull ups are any good?

Don’t know what to do

My 8 week old is still waking every 3 hours for milk. She strains, grunts and wriggles all night long. Its so loud that I am awake all night. I’ve tried infacol, dentinox, colief. We have changed her formula a week ago. She’s been to an osteopath (who said she was the calmest baby she’d ever seen šŸ™„) i’m at my wits end. I’m exhausted.

Baby slept through…

So it’s 6.35am and baby has slept through the night so obviously I have been waking every 30 mins panicking that somethings wrong and now wondering if I should wake him up. 🤣

He is EBF so my boobs are massive and leaking everywhere but yet the little prince keeps on sleeping. 😓

I really want to go back to sleep but I just know he will wake up the second I get comfy and start to drift off. 😩

Bloody kids!! šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ™ˆ

Is it ok to let a newborn (2weeks) sleep if already past birth weight or wake to feed ?

No hate for having a sleepy baby please my first was an awful sleeper so I know how triggering these posts can be šŸ˜‚ā€¦ but

My 2 week old slept for almost 6hours last night and we woke him even though he seemed pretty tired and would have slept longer. He’s been a sleepy baby since birth but feeds a lot throughout the day and has surpassed his birth weight but my husband woke me last night to say we need to wake the baby to feed. I said I’d get up and pump and let the baby sleep but he said we shouldn’t let him go over 6 hours without a feed….

Should we wake him? Thoughts below please :)

Does this get better?

My baby has just turned three months and he’s gone back to sleeping like he’s a newborn, so unsettled all night especially after his first stretch.
He was doing 6/7 hour stretches consistently and now it’s like he’s completely forgotten how to link his sleep cycles.
Does this get better or is this how sleep will be now?
