I'm a first time mum with a 7mounth old and i have bpd. I have been struggling to manage my emotions ,lately I've been having more lows then highs and I'm doing my best to hide my low mood from my little one and although I never let her see when I brake down I'm scared she will pick up on my emotions and it will effect her. She's a verry happy baby and I don't want my mental health to effect her growing up. Any tips from mums with bpd would be appreciated x

Following. I have an 18 month old and I am going through the same thing :( x

This was my exact phobia this time round with my 2nd baby. My biggest advice to you would be make sure you get some time to yourself to do things that can give you a little lift weather that’s having a pamper night (face mask or just having a bubble bath ) whilst baby is asleep do something that makes you feel good about yourself. Every mum struggles with or without BPD but if you’re feeling at your wits end maybe talk to a HV or your doctor are you taking any meds for your bpd now ?? Xxx

As your little one gets older be open about emotions. My 7 year old is very in tune with me. His school can tell when I'm struggling without me having a discussion based on my son's behaviour/anxiety over me.
I've started to talk to him about emotions in depth. I say I feel sad sometimes and not a little sad but Alot sad. It doesn't mean I don't love him or his siblings etc. He has started to be better himself. If I'm having a bad day and bod rage , I'll apologise as soon as I've calmed down and explain that mummy was angry because xyz etc. I also say whilst he may have done something to make me angry it isn't him personally. He has a Marc dad whose just says you make me angry. No their actions can make you angry and how you deal with that anger is totally your responsibility. Don't shift the blame to an innocent child. If you do the. Apologise as soon as you can. My boys dad is very much big boys don't cry. I let them see me cry on occasions and help them to realise all feelings are valid. X
