Pram panic - Uppababy Vista V2 or iCandy Peach 7 or something totally different?

Been looking at prams for what seems like forever and just feeling very overwhelmed by all the options out there. Conscious that now at 25 weeks we really need to order asap to have it in time for baby's arrival.

We were set on the iCandy for the longest time but then heard about the Uppababy and have been totally confused.

We likes the idea of both as they can convert to doubles for the future (hoping to have 2 closer together) but have read a lot of reviews that say the double features on either aren't great.

Each one has a lot of pros and cons. Uppababy seems very practical - good tires, folds with the seat on, easy removal of carry cot, lighter etc but doesn't seem as luxurious or comfy for the kids in it.
iCandy seems more eye-catching and luxurious - nice to look at, comfort padding in the seat seems nice for little one, full accessory pack etc.

Would love to hear if you have chosen either of these and why and if you have tried it with the double conversion was it any good?

Thank you!

I’m in the same panic as you. Loved the icandy after seeing it in store - saw it in another store and they told me though it’s an additional £250 to convert the icandy to a double which the first store failed to mention! I think it’s only £60 to convert the Uppababy. Was considering the egg2, extra adapters to convert are only £15 but now been reading the icandy and egg2 are very bulky and heavy and people have buyers remorse once using it. It’s a minefield 🤯

I just noticed your in NI too - I’m planning on booking an appointment with Mamas and Papas to spend time going over the different options loaded with all my questions 🤪 my friends recommended it, you can try out the different prams/ configurations etc and car seats x

Check out Cybex Gazelle for another great option for converting to double! We were torn between uppababy and Cybex. Choices choices 🤩

I bought the peach 7, mostly the same reason the fabric was more padded and high end than others I saw! Liked the fact it can be used for overnight sleeping too if we went away - but I don’t need it as a double!

Have you looked at the icandy core? This is what I’ve gone for and it also folds with the seat on 😄 (I didn’t even know that wasn’t standard until buying one as all new to me but I see the benefit now).
Also helps that it is a stunning pram - the colour of the chassis is 👌🏼 xx

I haven't actually looked at Cybex. What one did you end up going for?

@Aimée @Madeline Do you know what the iCandy is like for walks in forests and beaches? We have a wee dog we will be taking out a lit and want to make sure we can keep up with him.

I did see the Bugaboo Donkey but it is so big as a single I think we would struggle to take it anywhere 🙈

I haven't - does it have the option to convert to a double if needed?

Avatar

@Rachel we didn't either, until we were sold on their car seat and checked out their prams too. We got the Gazelle because it converts to double and seems less bulky than uppababy. Its so hard choosing though 😬. Mama's and Papa's do a good bundle for it 😊

I live in the countryside and have a dog and think the icandy will be good for that!

We went for the uppa baby vista 2. Friends of myn have used the double version and love it. Every store we went to they suggested Vista as we have a dog and live in the countryside, it was also more lightweight than some of the other bigger prams. I personally like the huge shopping space underneath as I am near the town x

just had a look and it doesn’t! Sorry - only has a ride on board by the looks of it xx

I’ve been recommended the gazelle by Cybex as easiest to fold down as a double without removing anything apparently x

We just had an appointment at John Lewis and tested them all out. I found the icandy looked amazing but was really heavy in comparison to the others. We’ve gone for the bugaboo fox package with car seat! So easy on all terrain, looks good and is pretty light. Suspension is incredible.
It’s pretty spenny but will do until 3 years old and will get 20% off at John Lewis

how did you go about getting this discount please? Do you book it through the website?x

Avatar

thanks so much! The website says it expires on the 31st July so going to give them a call and hopefully they can still put it through!

I had an appt yesterday and they still gave me a code to use valid for 2 months.

Before going I had been recommended the Cybex gazelle.

I found the gazelle and the I candy peach such a faff too fold. Silver cross extremely bulky and ended up with uppababy vista 2 xx

okay I better book mine soon then!

I’m thinking of going for the peach 7 but will try out more during my appointment. Still trying to decide if I want the maxi cosi or cloud z2 car seat to go with it!

Leaving a stay and play before the tidy up?

I take my daughter to a few stay and plays which are usually 2 hours long. Most of them finish when she would usually be napping and then it will take me a while to get her home and relaxed ready to nap etc. Is it rude to leave early? I think 2 hours is already a long time so I would prefer to leave after 1- 1.5houre but I don't want them to think I'm being rude

Bed sharing mamas - set up??

So I am bed sharing with my baby. It’s the only way we get sleep. She is now practicing standing and is super mobile. I feel on edge that she will fell of the bed.

How do you guys do it? Push the bed against a wall? Have you got some covers on the side . Share all your tips x

Don't understand the white soft play trend

Is anyone else confused why there are so many white/cream soft plays popping up everywhere. Visually they are so dull and not stimulating for a child. I would never pay the ridiculous prices they ask (more than normal soft play)

I hate the newborn age

Is it normal to actually hate the newborn phase? We are 8 days old so still very new to this and I’m a FTM. I thought I would LOVE having a newborn baby. I’m so overwhelmed and anxious if I’m getting anything right, if she’s happy if she’s fed if she’s gassy if she’s sleeping enough that I’m just not finding much joy in the newborn stage at all. I feel pretty lonely (even though my husband is the biggest support system and my absolute rock). Finding exclusively breastfeeding tricky and sort of wishing away these early weeks so we can get some sort of routine in place! Anyone else the same?

Co- sleeping 🥰💕

Can I just say to all those co-sleeping mama’s out there…… you’re doing one of the most natural things possible providing security, love, care and attention to not only your babies needs but your own 💕 It is so right yet you are lead to believe it’s so wrong! Why?

Soak in all the love and cuddles whilst they are small as one day they won’t need us like we need them 🥰💕

How can I get enough sleep 😴

My 11 month old has never been a great sleeper. He went to bed at 8:00pm last night. Me and my partner tidied up and went to sleep at 9ish. Baby still wakes 3 times a night and can take a while to resettle. My partner wakes up at 5 for work and he is also very tired.

He often wakes up close to my alarm too (when working). My alarm was set for 6 and baby woke up at 4:30. He only went back to sleep in his cot at 5:30. Meaning there is no time for me to go back to sleep and my day has started at 4:30.

Even when going to bed at 9, I still cannot catch enough sleep to get me through the day. I am 14 weeks pregnant and the tiredness is hitting me hard.
