Perfect Prep & Mam bottles

Bear with me here… I hope this makes sense…
Our little man is currently on 7 Oz of formula so we pop 7 scoops of formula in and then press 7 Oz on the perfect prep. But when it comes out it’s closer to 8oz on the bottle measuring approx 230ml. Is this normal? My husband think it’s might be making his formula too watery so thinks we should add another half scoop but I just think this is how the perfect prep machine 7oz measures in a Mam bottle. Any ideas??

I don’t use a prep machine When I make our bottles, I put the correct amount of water in and when mixed it always measures slightly more. 🤷🏻‍♀️ all I can think is that the powder just makes it rise a bit more . But I can only assume as long as you’re putting the correct water and correct powder in it’s fine x

I was thinking the same, but I think it’s because when adding the powder it’ll make it expand when there’s more but there isn’t x

We have the exact same issue! We use 6oz but it looks more like 7 in the mam bottle. Our boy seems happy with it though and we just stick to 6 scoops so it doesn’t become too heavy

I’ve noticed this too, I think its just bubbles etc, I wouldn’t personally mess with the scoops it says to put in xx

I've had the same issue. Apparently it's the mam bottles measuring wrong because of the air flow filter in the bottom so looks like more

It does it with the Tommee tippe bottles as well as it’s the powder that makes it rise, just carry on putting the normal scoops you would

Avatar

Thanks everyone! Glad to know it’s very normal so will stick with normal amount of scoops x

Happens with all bottles, or anything liquid. It's the same amount but with something added it increases the water volume its called displacement

Because of the added formula it makes a froth on the top when shaken, I find the prep machine makes the perfect amount. You can see the line where its nixed and where its frothy from the mixing on top 😊

No this is normal the bubbles/foam make it look far more than what is actually there.

It's b cause you've added the powder which has caused the water to raise in the bottle, so it's still 7 ounces but because you added something in heavy it's added the extra ounce without even adding an extra scoop or water if that makes sense xx

How many naps does your 4MO have?

Hi ladies, just wondered how many naps your bubbas are having a day?

My little girl sleeps from 7:30pm - 6:30am ish and is still having around 5 naps a day. Her WW vary from an hour up to around 1hr 30/45 mins. I keep reading everywhere about babies transitioning to 3 naps a day but I just don’t see how this is possible as my LO gets so fussy if I push her WW too long.

TIA 🙏🤞

Bedtime

Hi mamas. I let my baby watch kids videos for bedtime until he gets asleep. Am I a worse mum??

Getting out of the house

Please tell me I’m not the only one who finds it near impossible to get out of the house with my LO 😓 She’s 4.5 months and I’ve barely gone outside since giving birth. Where I live it’s still super cold and the 3 times I attempted an outdoor walk with her she started crying after 10 minutes…
She won’t nap or nurse on the go anymore and still nurses every 1.5-2 hours. Up until 4 months her cluster feeding was so frequent I couldn’t go anywhere because of that. I’m completely house bound and going crazy. I feel like every other new mom I see on my social media is out to restaurants, Pilates classes, vacations, etc with their babies and for some reason I’m the only one who can’t handle it. Tell me this gets easier 😭

Edit: *it’s not because I worry about OTHER people with my baby’s crying- her crying stresses ME out especially because I know I’m depriving her of food or sleep because I went further than 30 minutes from our house and she won’t nurse or nap until we get home. It just feels like too much hassle and stress to bother.

Hardest stage yet

I love my little boy to death but my god the 4-6 month stage is killing me off!
I did struggle with the newborn stage being a new mum but wow bring back my newborn 😭

Naps no more than 40 minutes at a time,
He use to sleep through now wakes up 1/2 times a night and wants to start the day at 6am 😴
Screaming like a banshee, loves to roll about but hates the fact he can’t crawl yet and makes it known 😂
cannot be kept entertained for more than 10 minutes at a time.
Doesn’t want to be held sometimes but doesn’t want to be put down (I can’t win 😅)
If it wasn’t for his cheeky personality and the smiles/belly laughs I think I would have lost my mind at this point!

Please tell me I’m not alone 🥲

Help - trapped gas

My baby struggles to fart and poop. She looks so uncomfortable and tries to strain. I've tried infacol and dentanox. But no luck. I've tried massage, bicycle kicks and bathing but no luck. Only a few pumps. Anyone got any other tricks to try? Desperate tired mummy 🫩

Is 2 year olds (almost 3) too young to start learning to read letters?

Not expecting him to suddenly master it or anything but we have been doing alphabet and phonics for awhile cause he always wanted us to draw and after a point we ran out of new things so we went on to letters and numbers 😅 but he knows almost all of them so I don’t know if to see if he can string them together to read cat or something
