Positive experience of Watford General

I wanted to leave a positive story of Watford general maternity unit as I always heard very negative reviews.
I went in on 12th July for a growth scan to be advised my waters had possibly broken. I was sent to triage to have it checked in which they confirmed. Due to not knowing how long ago it happened I was advised to be induced. I was admitted and induced and later that evening taken to the delivery suite. Around 5am the next morning my baby’s heart rate kept dropping so I ended up having an emergency c section and my baby was born safe and well.

Every single person I came across gave me the most amazing treatment and I cannot fault them in the slightest. They talked me through everything that was happening especially during the c section I had a Dr by my head the entire time ensuring I was ok and knew what was going on.
When I was back on the ward for the night all of the midwives were extremely helpful and spent the time assisting me with anything I needed.

Please don’t let all of the negative stories put you off/make you nervous like I was as the treatment really was amazing.

My daughter was born in Watford General Hospital and the maternity staff were amazing. I had pre-eclampsia and high BP and was induced later that night. The ward staff were amazing who on the 1st night let my mum stay with me after hours. The night staff were amazing and the doctors and midwives that delivered my baby were amazing and even the theatre staff who removed the placenta when I couldn't deliver it were also amazing.

Thank you WGH Staff

Congrats 🎉 on your baby! . I have had two babies in Watford both during covid times. Second time around my husband was not with me so a bit scary. Both times the the nurses and midwives were great. Very attentive and caring. Midwives delivered both of mine safely. The ante natal care was also very good

Completely agree. Everyone was amazing and attentive. They were clear on what we should do, but I was allowed to ask questions and they took the time to explain everything and let us change our mind till we were happy first. Had induction then emergency c section after pre-eclampsia, high bp and baby distressed

I also had an amazing experience when my daughter was born last week, can't thank the midwives and drs enough for their support even though the labour did not go to plan at all.

I had a very positive experience at Watford General as well. I felt very safe throughout the process and I can't fault them in any way. We had some scary moments, but because I trusted them I knew everything would be fine. And it was.

Emergency scan

Hi! I went to triage on Saturday night for reduced movement as I hadn’t felt baby all day. I was checked over with Doppler etc and sent on my way - midwife said everything was great.

I’ve just been called by the hospital that I’m booked in for an emergency scan and it’s just taken me by surprise. Has anyone else experienced this?

Baby is nearly here and still haven’t decided on a name…
Please help!

Here are our options

Evelyn
Summer - baby will not be born in this season ( does it matter though? It’s a name not a time stamp)
Halle
Clodagh ( Irish Cloda)

Would love to hear what your favourite name is out of those

Birth plan

Debating between natural birth vs C section.
Labour lengths, recovery times afterwards, control involved in a c section, pregnancy again after c sections.. give me your experiences/opinions. 😊
(Also, if the hospital was 1.5 hours away would that affect your decision)

Overstimulated

Does anyone else say the most outrageous stuff when overstimulated, I feel bad cause somethings I imagine can be a little weird/scary, but the other night I told my daughter (almost 3) "I understand that your aunt painted your nails but if you don't lay down and go to sleep then you're nails aren't gonna be there in the morning" 😭😭😭it was 3am and she hadn't had a nap and kept finding excuses to stay up
