Has anyone been told they have this? I’m 40+3 with no signs of labour at all and 2 failed sweeps. At this point I feel like an induction won’t even work, my midwife said I would have to go through every stage of one to have a chance of it working. I’m tempted to try and go for an elective c section as i’d rather it be planned than emergency. What are people’s opinions?

I was 40 + 10 and had 7 sweeps.. that didn’t work! Also cervix’s move ready for Labour so it will change. It’s up to you but I wouldn’t say a induction wouldn’t work. If you wish to have a elective c section then go for it, but if you wanted a induction I’d say it’s likely to work despite your cervix X

Did you end up going in to labour naturally? x

I think go for whatever u think is best! If you genuinely feel like induction is going to be long and there’s a low chance, it might be less stress for you having an elective section as you can plan it better! I originally had an elective booked as I was scared incase induction didn’t work, but ended up arranging induction as they said they could bring him early due to me having gestational diabetes. Overall definitely go with whatever u think is best don’t let anyone pressure you xx

I was induced via pessery which worked without the need of anything else, but they did pop my waters at 4cm because babies heart rate xx

see you write you had 7 sweeps just blew my mind 😣

ah i see, thank you lovely! I definitely have some thinking to do xx

haha half weren’t in my notes because they were done in triage so I think that’s how I managed to get so many.. but yep none worked 😂 I lost my mucus plug etc but didn’t send me into Labour

I was so against an induction until it got a point where I just couldn’t be arsed being anymore overdue 😂

I didn’t even think that was possible lol. You are amazing having gone through that and then an induction. ♥️

Ive been against having one but i’m hearing so many more positive induction stories so i am leaning more towards it, it’s just the thought of it turning into an emergency section that scares me! Only 3 days over and i’m definitely fed up🤣 had a growth scan yesterday and she’s 7lb 13oz just so uncomfortable! x

Sorry to hear you're worried - whatever you decide will be right for you.
I had a cervix check today and got told she couldn't reach it as it was 'round the back' - is this the same as a posterior cervix?! Been thinking about it too

thank you! yeah so my understanding is babies head is in front of the cervix. I think posterior is closer to the back and anterior is the other way basically. At first I was thinking how is that going to correct itself but then it was explained to me that when you start to dilate it’ll open enough for baby to eventually be able to go through (i think) Don’t count me on it it’s all very confusing 😫 x

i’ve also heard it can make examinations a little more painful/uncomfortable unfortunately x

mine was measured 7lb 12 on my 39 week scan, he was 7lb 1 and I was also scared due to negative stories but you forget it all once it’s over xx

I think it’s the same x

thank you, you’ve definitely reassured me! Everything will work out in the end xx

thank you 🥰 yeah it is confusing, frustrating waiting but I guess whatever happens it's not too long away now (I'm 40+4 today so very similar to you!) X

Good luck!! We will have our little ones soon enough for sure xx

good luck too ❤️ XX

I had a posterior cervix, couple of sweeps that couldn’t be completed as cervix was completely closed between 40 and 41 weeks. Ended up going into labour naturally at 41+3, baby born on the morning of 41+4- the day I was booked to be induced!
I was like yourself- convinced a c section would just be for the best but then talked myself out of it and reluctantly agreed to an induction, very pleased I didn’t end up having one. But at the end of the day if inductions didn’t work on people with posterior cervix’s then they wouldn’t do them! We hear a lot of negative stories about inductions but they do work.

I thought you need to wait 48 hours before you had the next sweep no?

They were, my first was at 37 weeks at triage for reduced movements
