Mater or North Shore Private?

Hello all! 🙂 I’m due for having a baby in April ‘24. I am on NZ family unit visa and am covered for pregnancy through private health insurance. So I am deciding between Mater and Northshore private hospital as they are closer to home.
Any recommendations? 🙂

I've booked in at NSP. Im a FTM so have no experience or knowledge which is better to be honest however after I selected my OB (who works across both) said in her opinion the rooms are great at NSP however the recovery area after bubs is born (for a c section) is better at Mater. I would also be keen to hear others feedback if they have experienced either hospital.

I had my baby at Mater in June this year via a planned c section and was very happy about my experience. The good thing is that you can order food from 6:30am til 7pm anytime you want so you can take care of baby/rest and then have your meals when convenient for you. The visiting hours are from 3pm-5pm and then again from 6pm-8pm. They have some useful classes before you go home and most of the midwifes were lovely.

I have booked at NPS because Mater is undergoing a renovation and my OB mentioned it’s was hard for doctors to get parking… both places are good..

April 1st baby! 🩷

Baby Millie arrived 27th March by elective section weighing 7lb 11oz! 🩷 We are still in the hospital as she has jaundice so needed to go under the lamp. Hopefully we are ok to go home today 🤞
For anyone going for an elective section after a traumatic previous emergency section.. it was such a healing experience for me! I got to watch her come out and it was absolutely amazing.
Also for 2nd time Mum's.. your heart will literally double in size and any worries you had will soon disappear.
Good luck April Mamas ❤️

Second pregnancy in 40's

So I've just had my first baby at 38 (conceived at 37) and have recently turned 39. I will be going back to work at the end of the year but I need to return for at least one year before I can take mat leave with full benefits again.
This means I can look to get pregnant again no earlier than December but I will most likely be 40 when I hopefully conceive again. This isn't such a bad thing as it gives me time to recover from my c section but I am a little anxious.

Those of you who had a baby in their late 30s and then a second in your early 40s, was there much difference in how long it took you to get pregnant again?

I love my LG to bits and she is enough for me either way but I would love her to have at least one sibling.

Low laying placenta?!

This is my 3rd pregnancy. I’ve already got low Papp-a and recently had a private scan where they noticed my placenta is low laying. Obviously will find out more at my 20 weeks nhs scan but does anyone have any positive stories regarding this?
Pic for attention💙

What are you guys implantation bleeding stories?

I’m so curious! I had a little with my son. And I’m just curious if this is what I have now because my period came a week early which is extremely unlike me. (Extreme to the point I don’t remember ever getting it early lolol). But I also don’t want to get my hopes up lol. So just thought I’d hear from other ladies 🙂

Witching hour

My 7 week old LG is so good of a night even sleeping through most nights, settled all morning and early afternoon and then 5pm hits and she’s crying and won’t settle even being held, sometimes she’ll stop for a little and then start again. This usually lasts until around 11pm. Took her for a walk in the pram earlier and she settled then as soon as we get home she’s crying again. Anyone else dealing with this? I’m wondering if it’s colic but she doesn’t cry continuously…
