Second pregnancy in 40's

So I've just had my first baby at 38 (conceived at 37) and have recently turned 39. I will be going back to work at the end of the year but I need to return for at least one year before I can take mat leave with full benefits again.
This means I can look to get pregnant again no earlier than December but I will most likely be 40 when I hopefully conceive again. This isn't such a bad thing as it gives me time to recover from my c section but I am a little anxious.

Those of you who had a baby in their late 30s and then a second in your early 40s, was there much difference in how long it took you to get pregnant again?

I love my LG to bits and she is enough for me either way but I would love her to have at least one sibling.

Hello from
This 2nd time mum at 40, and getting pregnant at 40 didn’t took any longer than getting pregnant at 36( for my first one) .
Hope this helps.

Had my first at 40 after a loss at 39. Haven’t gone for another yet, husband feels too old 😂. Conceived in our 2nd month of trying- so it was all pretty quick.

Not at all - I’m due in the summer and my daughter is 3 and I am 42.
Don’t worry you will be fine

I conceived first month trying at 42 but miscarried. Conceived after one cycle and have a beautiful healthy baby girl. I was taking coq10 and Irish sea moss and I believe that's what helped because amh was 0.08. So pretty much nothing.

I was lucky and conceived the first month trying at 39 and again at 41. I am glad that we had the second baby at 41. I started perimenopause at 42 and have had changes to my cycle. It would have been more difficult I think if we had waited.

My second was a total surprise. I was 39 and a half when she was conceived and it was the week of my oldest's birthday. Pretty smooth pregnancy -just GD for the last trimester.

Should I talk to someone about this?

Yesterday the nurse came to remove my staples and look at baby. She said she has blood under her scalp on one side. Likely from the use of a vacuum. The hospital NEVER told me and I was awake during the c section. I called the nursing line and they confirmed that a vacuum was used.

My mom also said she overheard them say they had to repair something from my last c section but the nursing line says they have no notes.

I'm really upset. They talked about informed consent but they never told me about the vacuum or what to expect after.

The nurse who came to my house told me should could become jaundice as the blood under her scalp absorbs and I will need to wake her for feeds.

Is Partner allowed to stay overnight in ward?

Hey mums, I’m thinking of an elective c section in Whittington hospital. Does anyone know if my partner is allowed to stay with me overnight? I don’t have any other family members in London, and I’ve heard the hospital won’t offer a private room for C section. So wondering if they let my partner stay with me over night in a shared room or it’s gonna be a tough night me alone with a lot of pain and a newborn ?!

Losing mucas plug after sweep

To anyone who's previously been pregnant, I'm after some insight please.

I'm 39+1 today and I had a sweep on Friday and I've been losing my mucas plug all day today each time I go to the toilet. I know that losing the plug doesn't necessarily mean labour is going to be soon but I wondered if that 'rule' changed at all after a sweep or can it still be days/weeks away.

Thank you 😊

be honest now… how many of us have been using chatgpt throughout their pregnancy this year?

i know it’s bad but it’s 100% been my off-duty midwife, therapist, experienced friend, admin assistant, tracker, just general go-to for everything. don’t know if i could have made it this far this sane without it.

Americans, how soon can you get a doctors appointment?

You wake up, something’s off with you or the baby or whatever, you call up your normal GP - not including A&E or walk-ins etc - how soon can you get an appointment?

I feel like a lot of people from the US don’t understand how shit the NHS actually is here, but at the same time is it just as bad over there?
