Concerned about accidentally falling while pregnant

Hi to all FTM!

Has anyone experienced to accidentally tripped and fall (bad one) while pregnant?

a. How many weeks (Which trimester) are you in when this happened?
b. What did you feel/experience? (E.g. none, discharge, blood etc)
c. What did you do?

Thank you!

If you have a bad fall you should be going to triage but the chances are baby is fine. They’re surrounded by loads of the best cushioning around - amniotic fluid!

Hi, with my first nearly 3 years ago I fell down a flight of concrete steps at 32 weeks pregnant and broke my leg and ankle - baby was absolutely fine. I was in hospital a week and had two surgeries to put pins and plates in my leg, both of which a midwife attended just incase I went into labour. Baby was also checked weekly from that point but again, was absolutely fine as they are so well cushioned 😊

It wasn’t a bad fall but when I was pregnant I fell and my leg hit my bump quite hard, I was in my second trimester and I didn’t feel anything, I just waited for him to move before I wanted to get checked out. He moved so I figured everything was fine so I didn’t do anything about it

Hi! I fell in January when I was about 12 weeks pregnant and was worried sick as it was still early and I landed on my belly quite hard but she was absolutely fine and is currently snuggled on my chest sleeping 💕 however if you have had a fall and are worried go to triage xx

I was 37 weeks when my dog tripped me on a walk I fell directly onto my belly pretty hard. I went to the hospital they put me on the monitor to check if the baby was still moving she was but it started up contractions. They needed up keeping me overnight to monitor my contractions after almost 2 days they spaced out enough for me to go home😊

My step-mother fell out of bed onto her stomach when she was 5 months pregnant she did go in to hospital the next day, it did cause a bleed but the baby was fine (he's 15 now). Good news, it did stop her horse riding as she realised how bad it would be if she fell from a height.

I broke my little toe few weeks ago - I was 18 weeks - no bleeding etc

I was pushed over and fell into a door frame at 36 weeks. I protected my bump with my hands, bounced off the doorframe and fell backwards and landed on my back. My arms were left badly bruised. The hospital was not concerned as baby’s movements were as normal, I didn’t even have to go in to get checked. They are very well protected inside us and it would take something more like a car crash to do harm.

When i was pregnant i collapsed onto a table(on my belly) while standing up at 16 weeks at work luckily while i passed out i managed to not put too much pressure on my belly and luckily no bleed or pain but midwife did check me over to listen to baby to make sure he was ok.

I fell last week when the dog pulled me over on a walk chasing a rat!! Everything was fine, just a grazed knee and a bit of shock!

I fell down the stairs, I don't remember how many weeks but it was at least 20. I did go into hospital to be checked and baby was absolutely fine. They reassured me that baby was super well cushioned in there.

I fell second trimester . I called the dr and they said to go the L&D to be monitored to make sure placenta didn’t rupture. Baby and everything was totally fine! Call just to be sure :)

Avatar

I fell when I was in my third trimester and I called the hospital straight away cause I was rhenus negative so they gave me a shot and checked that baby was fine

Avatar

I fell at 28 weeks right into my belly on a chair. Scary. She was absolutely fine. No bleeding

Avatar

I fell at 36 weeks pregnant, got monitored for 4 hours but all was good! I did go in right away though to make sure

I fell at 38 weeks down the last quarter of our stairs. Belly hit the radiator and I messed up my hip pretty bad. Baby boy was fine he was born almost 3 weeks later. He'll be 1 in October. I'm still in physio for my hip

Avatar

I slipped on ice at 24 weeks. Was quite sore but could feel baby moving so wasn’t concerned. Midwife told me only to go in if I had severe stomach pain that wouldn’t ease with pain relief, or if i had any leaking fluid or any bleeding. Everything was fine though

If you're rhesus negative it's very important to go get your anti D shot 😊 or at least assessed to see if u need it

I feel at 28 weeks pregnant straight on my belly. I had sudden pain in my stomach. So I presented to the hospital. I was monitored for 6 hours and then sent home, as baby was fine. She is now almost 6 weeks old and thriving 💕

Avatar

I fell at 14 1/2 weeks but landed on my bottom. Didn’t have any bleeding or cramping. Called my OB to ask if I should be seen and they told me to come in that day to check on baby just to be sure. If you fell forward or fell hard definitely get checked. The earlier you are the more protection baby has!

Avatar

Not me, but my friends mum fell when she was 38 weeks pregnant, whilst carrying shopping in she slipped and fell on her stomach onto some steps. She had pains and went in to get checked and gave birth to my friend naturally a couple of hours later - they were both healthy!! Would not recommend for inducing labour though 😖😂

I was 18 weeks when i tripped and fell. I almost landed on stomach but caught myself and landed on my knees. I felt soreness and I had bruising. Everything with baby was fine.

I never fell but did lift a lot of heavy things. Climbing warehouse ladders in the 3rd trimester to pull down boxes of car seats with hyperhidrosis was a freaking task. I worked at Buy Buy Baby and had to physically do so much. My baby was never effected but I would be very sore, tired, and had so much discharge I would change my panties and jeans a couple times a day. My doctor told me I had to stop lifting things over 10 lbs but couldn’t help it when it was basically my job to do so. Take it easy on your body and be patient. Ask for help if you’re ever hesitant with a physical task. Even though I was confident getting in and out of the shower, my husband always held my hands stepping over the tub just in case. And he always held my hands walking up and down stairs.

omg i fell ALL the time when i was pregnant. winter in iowas🙄 i never fell directly on my belly other than one time at about 25wks when i was in the store but i fell on sqeaky stuffed toys so i wasnt worried... i kept watch of movements and any physical outer symptoms for the next few days though, if i felt something was wrong i wouldve went to the hospital but nothing felt wrong🤷‍♂️.

I fell on ice at 6 months and forced to fall on my knees rather than the front! Was scared to go back inside my house. The knee was bleeding, stitches were needed however first aider was no where to be seen at work.

Love my husband. Love my kids. But…

I’m 32 weeks pregnant with twins. I take care of my 4 yo, 2 yo, and 1 yo. I barely have energy to stand anymore. I cuddle and watch movies with my kids all day at this point. My husband is less pushy in this pregnancy in wanting to be touched or love up on me. But I feel more like a tool these days more than ever. He gets frustrated (not to a crazy degree) but I can tell he huffs because he’s probably sexually frustrated from me not wanting to be touched on. (my boobs are super sensitive atm) I love having the babies part, but the pregnancy also now has me feeling like a baby making machine. And a tool with big boobs made for touches and my husbands pleasure. Ofc I love my husband and kids, but with my hormones all wack, it really doesn’t feel the same when you’re not turned on. It’s so hard for me to get turned on. I’m uncomfortable all the time in my own body. Babies moving in there all the time. My children cuddle me all day but get rowdy at the end of the day, so I end up getting touched out and I can get irritable when my husband tries to touch me affectionately. He doesn’t have the tact necessary for me right now, when I wish he wanted to go in for a normal comforting hug I’m let down more often than not, there is almost always a boob groping involved as well. I tried to just let him touch me last night so he could get it out of his system, but he could tell I felt tense. Wish my boobs weren’t such an uncomfortable place for me to be touched. Idk why I’m making this post. Probably just to vent. Wish men were equally as emotionally intelligent as women. Wish I didn’t feel like I still owe him something because he’s picking up a lot of the house load and yet I still need to ask him to do more before these twins arrive. He’s tired every day when he comes home, so he takes a shower sometimes works out, and helps get the kids to bed. So it’s a struggle getting him to help any further than that. Weekends are my only time to get to him. But it’s a struggle to find time on weekends too. I know if he wanted to he would. But there’s just no drive.

What are we giving our soon-to-be 3yo for their birthdays?

We have the magnetiles, we have the kinetic sand and play doh, we have the play kitchen…

Literally, is there anything left in the world to buy this spoilt kid? 😅

Maternity leave Employment rights?

I have 6 weeks left of work and they have completely changed my job spec including my job title and all my responsibilities, they have done this ahead of advertising my maternity cover apparently to fit business needs which I am fine with but i explained as long as it doesn’t effect me before I go. They have now turned round and said they want me to do the training for it before I go and want me to sign a variation in contract asap. Are they allowed to do this? I thought you had the right to come back to the same job within 26 weeks and I haven’t even left yet and they’re changing it? I was going to see what the job was when I got back and go from there but now they’re wanting me to sign this change in contract before I go I don’t know what to do, do I have to sign it ?
