was your baby engaged when you had a membrane sweep?

I couldn't have one at 41 weeks for the same reason - it's because there's a risk of cord prolapse, hospital and midwife both told me the same thing!

I was induced with my second and had my waters broken and he wasn’t engaged so I feel like it’s all conflicting 😅😅

Second baby here and if it's any consolation he was engaged enough 3 days later for a sweep!

Oh I had the same thought, I was induced with my first and he wasn't engaged, he was back to back, they broke my waters when I was less than 1cm dilated 😂 but I guess you're in a hospital environment being monitored for induction and not for a sweep.

That’s true 😂 she’s booked me in next week so really hoping baby is engaged enough as I really want to avoid induction 😰

3rd sweep today. First one she could feel baby head but 2nd she couldn’t get near so couldn’t do it properly. 🤷🏽‍♀️

how come she couldn’t on the second sweep but could on the first?! I have my second sweep tomorrow and this has me worried 🙈

My midwife said the same thing, she says it’s because doing it when baby isn’t engaged is a risk of cord coming down before the head x

were you able to have a sweep at all at another time? I’m worried baby won’t be engaged at all for me to have one and it’s really stressing me out 😞

I had 3rd today. And she asked another midwife to come in and do it. Who was sooo much better!
I’m not sure what happened the 2nd time.
But wow that was uncomfortable! My midwife must of been tickling me before lol 😂 xx

So I was engaged but my cervix wasn’t open it took to my third sweep before my cervix was open at all x

1st one I was almost 1cm. 2nd sweep it was closed and couldn’t get near cervix. 3rd sweep today was 1cm and managed to successfully sweep and I’m sore now & bleeding a bit so I know it’s worked 👌🏽

Walking around lots this morning that may have helped. Gravity getting the baby’s head down and opening things up! X

blimey poor you! My first sweep I was 1cm and was agony, I have my second tomorrow and praying there’s been some movement!!!
