Has anyone done combo feeding from the birth of your baby? I am 3 day PP and my milk has just comebin but im really struggling with breastfeeding and getting the latch right. I want to keep going but im worried about my mental health (previous issues) and dont think exclusively breastfeeding will work for me. Im hoping my partner can help formula feeds overnight as im taking a bit of strain with the lack of sleep

Definitely it a good idea . It will take some time for your milk supply increase just don't stop . I'm doing both n it work fine for both of us . He love my boobs than bottle but I still try to give him both. I know it can be stressful .

Yes I did as I had latch issues. It's been fine and as we got the latch better overtime I managed to breastfeed more and use formula less but still combi feed to this day xx

I have combi-fed from birth due to several issues with exclusive feeding. I now exclusively pump and then top up. It has been great for us so far (5 months pp currently). However, if you are really keen on going ebf, definitely meet a Lactation Consultant asap

We started combo feeding the day we got home from the hospital. Before he was born I was so committed to exclusively breastfeed, but it was just too hard and I basically had a breakdown. My milk hadn’t come in and my son was having the hardest time latching so we were both just crying. My hubby got him a bottle and we haven’t looked back. We still mainly breastfeed with one or two bottles a day. But it seriously saved my sanity and reduced my stress so much. You gotta do what’s best for you and your family

Yes, i did had latch issues. The hospital wasn't very helpful when it came to helping us breastfeed, and little one had a tongue tie, which was misdiagnosed until it was cut at 4 weeks I was triple feeding for weeks, breast, top-up, and pumping. We now mainly breastfeed, apart from 1 bottle before bed, which my partner gives him so i can have a solid couple of hours sleep x

how were you alternating it? I am so worried about engorgment etc

thank you. How many bottles were you doing roughly or were you alternating? Im wanting to prevent engorgment also just not sure how to go about it

I combi feed. Little buddy was small for gestational age, so it was advised to me to nurse him , then supplement after nursing. He was on high calorie formula preemie formula from birth ( 06/21) to 07/01 .( at that point we were advised to be supplementing with a regular formula) At his 3 weeks visit, 07/12, they gave us the go ahead to no longer wake him at night to feed him. He is now 10 weeks old. I mostly nurse him and we supplement when I'm not available, when I'm busy, and honestly, at night when boob isn't working it's magic to get him milk drunk enough to pass out. He's growing great, and sometimes he seems to prefer boob over bottle of formula.

I did combo feed for a month as my nipples were sore and bleeding and I was figuring out the correct latch and how to get the whole breastfeeding correct..I visited my hospital 5 times for lactation consultations and that helped alot and after a month I was able to start my journey of EBF, it was very tough initially but it becomes better with time.. if you really want to EBF then meet a lactation consultant.. also for the first month I pumped to increase my supply.. pumping between 12 am to 6 am is the best to increase supply. But do whatever you feel is right for you and good for your physical and mental health. You are doing great!

Man I’m vegan and have a major pressure to breast feed only and just couldn’t
I’m a low supplier
That’s just the bottom line. So I do a pea protein formula and breast feed and when I said I pump even knowing I’m not getting anything
It’s just to keep trying. I put him in the breast everyone he’s hungry then follow up with bottle of formula right after
After frying his furstceeek I literally just said stop. He has to eat, you’re his momma you have to feed him and that’s when I got over the pressure of having to supplement with formula and now it’s like clock work
I always have a bottle ready and always breast feed/we do both at the same time ♥️🙏🏼

My baby is 9 weeks and we are still having latch issues. She’s so hard to keep awake during feedings, I think she just uses me for comfort. We supplement with breast milk and formula but it’s been tough. I wanted to ebf but it just hasn’t worked out for us. She had a tongue tie, has a heart murmur and I honestly didn’t know what a good latch was for a long time and now she’s used to nibbling…so my supply took a while and is still a little low (just got a clogged duct which hasn’t helped). Combo feeding has been working for us and as much as I wanted to ebf, I knew I’d be going back to work eventually and we’d have to be doing bottles so we are just starting it all sooner rather than later. I’m just hoping she will still want to nurse!
