If you have a boobie obsessed contact napper who is about to start nursery - this is my top tip (worked for my baby this week!)

So my baby is as described above. I was so nervous about him starting nursery and just didn't know how they'd settle him and get him to sleep etc. He had 3 settling in sessions this week and they were an absolute roller coaster. Thursday he was there 2 hours and was sad, crying, just wanted to be held and didn't want to play or anything. We were trialling a full day Friday and I didn't have high hopes BUT I sent in a muslin that I had used the day before and worn in my bra that night and his keyworker said it was like magic. It calmed him down, he slept with it and in all the photos they uploaded, it was always nearby whether he was eating or playing and he ended up having an amazing day, lots of smiles and giggles, played with the other babies and lasted the full day which I just didn't think would happen. Just thought I'd share for any other nervous mummy's in case this works for you too

Thank you! My LB is starting in a couple of weeks and I’ve been worried about how he’ll settle without the boob. I’ll give that’s a go😊x

@Veronica I always wear one tucked into my bra whilst feeding as he's super nosey and pulls away a lot and my milk flow is fast so the cloths get soaked in milk! Then wore it in my bra at night too to soak up my scent and any leakages 😂 and to be honest, I could hardly tell it was there! x

@Veronica You're welcome! It totally transformed how he coped there and they've asked me to send one every day until he's fully settled and relying on it less. The staff even wore it over their shoulder whilst carrying him or if he was sitting on their knee just to keep the scent and familiarity nearby and they were amazed at how well it worked so I hope it helps other babies too! x

I'm not a breast feeding mum, but this post was so lovely to read! I'm so glad bub enjoyed it, and I just shows just how much they need and miss us ❤️

@Rita Aww thank you! I know, I'll be honest, I burst into tears when I saw the photos of him sleeping with it and it being tucked into his high chair while he ate. I thought wow, he feels so much calmer and happier just being able to smell me and our horrible milky smell haha x

Awwh it's making me emotional just hearing this lol! If only they knew how much we love them and would never leave them if we could help it! X

@Rita I know. My heart was breaking when he was so sad being there and I just needed him to know exactly that!

@Veronica I know, I was actually surprised too. They really are amazing. He had 2 naps, 1 was 40 mins in a cot and 1 was a 90 min contact nap - because they felt he needed it! I'm so happy that he's being cared for so lovingly already x

@Nikki It's in Leeds so unfortunately not nearby. I had a little look at your profile as I was going to message with more info if you were close by!

I’m so glad you said you feed with a muslin. I’ve always had to breastfeed by tucking one in my bra due to fast flow & an easily distracted baby & people look at me like I’m mad 🤣
I’ll deffo be giving him one to take to nursery ❤️❤️❤️

@Abbie I'm glad it's not just me! I'm always amazed when I see a breastfeeding mummy just discreetly let baby latch on 😂 just isn't possible for us! x

I’m always so jealous of them 😂 if I just fed him on the go, we’d both be milk stained for the day 😂
I’ve even found myself staring in the past 😳 because I’m so in awe of it, then I feel AWFUL for it 🙈🙈🙈

Over supply of milk

I am nearly 5weeks postpartum and I have such a big over supply of BM.
Has anyone donated / sold their supply, if so where do you recommend for this?

AITA

In the uk there is an outbreak of meningitis, in a specific area mainly. My BD has family from that area and decided to go and meet up with them, I said if he does then he cannot have contact with the kids for 7-10 days after incase he picks anything up. Am I being over dramatic? I reallyyy don’t want my young kids getting anything serious

I think its fair

Me and my partner agreed to sleep in 1 day of the weekend.
He doesn't find it fair to look after both kids (my 4 year old isnt his) while i sleep so he looks after the baby while i sleep and my toddlers at his dads and ill look after both the next day.
Straightaway it was pretty unfair as i let him sleep in until he wakes up 10-12
He wakes me up when baby starts fussing because he wants milk (doesnt need it)
I cant pump as i dont supply enough.
So i get woken at 9/9:30 to feed baby then i get him sleep then theres no point sleeping in as my toddlers being dropped off.
I also find it unfair that i get both kids to sleep most night, i get my toddler to sleep everyday hes home (4/5days) and i get my baby to sleep most nights with the exception of maybe twice a month as his dad struggless then about 95% of his thru the day naps.
I have also been unwell for a few months (tumor scare) and am waiting 18 weeks to see a specialist so im obviously petrified for that, so unbelievably tired and alot of aches and pains, specifically these pounding headaches ive been having.
After i had been up til 11:30 getting both kids to sleep lastnight and my partner falling asleep at 10 then him ignoring the baby cries all morning until my toddler woke up im fed up slammed to door and rold him not to expect to sleep in unless he gets the baby to sleep the night b4.
I keep having issues with him not feeling the wet from baby being sick or weeing himself or being able to smell it do about 98% of the time hes given to me i have to clean him up n change him.
Including at night, we agreed my partner would change nappies (1 a night at 5am) while i feed (2,4,5,6:30) but every night when i get him hes pissed through and my partner gets annoyed when i wake him up n moan about it.
Then the morning after hes annoyed at how much washing there is (thats his job) and moans about how often i change myself (baby constantly shits thru and sicks on me) and baby
Honestly im just so tired all the time

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Sleep regression

How have you managed to navigate the 4 month sleep regression and can it start as early as 3 and a half months or 15 weeks? My baby used to sleep from 8:30-4 now is up every hour and a half.
