So I’m struggling to know what I actually enjoy doing.
4 months pp and all I like doing is snuggling my baby and watching TV. I really want to be more productive or enjoy going out to do stuff but I genuinely have no interest… pre pregnancy I loved hiking, going to the gym, having a beer. But now when I even think about stepping out of the house an overwhelming amount of dread comes over me.
It’s conflicting because I want to have a hobby I enjoy but whenever I try to think of something I don’t feel excited about it.
Has anyone else felt this?

You’re not alone! For me it took a lot of time to get out of that funk but it does get better! ❤️

I am on a same boat but I am 26 week pregnant and I don’t want to do anything just love to watch tv because it’s so
Hot in Houston and I can’t bear this heat in pregnancy 😌

I'm also 4 months pp and feeling the exact same. I've tried to find joy in things I used to, but I have no interest. I even tried spending a night away from baby but all I wanted to do was go and get her. Sorry I can't help. You're not alone 💜

I had some post partum depression and my experience was what you are describing. First of all- rest! It is ok to not do it all. Eventually you will be able to get back to hobbies (though they may change). I used to play music like gig and stuff and do capoeira. Now my hobbies are the gym, contradancing, and crafts 😎 Try listening to some positive affirmations on a daily basis, write down three things you are happy about for yourself (not you baby or family) every day, and pick a date in the future for a really easy hike that you could do with your baby on a daytrip and pack yourself a beer (of course have a designated driver). See how you feel about it after you go! Maybe you will enjoy it. You could even get a babysitter and just go yourself!! I dont want to give you too much advice cuz i know that is sometimes unhelpful. But yes, i feel you. I had to grieve a lot when my baby was born even though i love him so much and gained so much. I also felt a lot of loss for who i was.

I feel this. Babies take over your life and don’t leave much time/energy for much else! If you are happy & content in your snuggling baby bubble, enjoy it! It’s not forever and if you’re happy that’s all that’s important, you don’t need to be productive in other ways if you really don’t feel like it. If you do want to introduce some things that you used to do back into you’re life then take it slow, if you used to like hiking maybe start taking some baby free walks to have a bit of time to yourself. Or meet one close friend for a beer and then back home to baby. But I think we change so much having a baby it’s like you lose yourself but really it’s just a whole new version of you that you can take some time to get to know

Take your time! I am working and am enjoying that but other then that don't like to go too far out because we are really comfy around the house. We go for walks and visit in laws etc but I am not doing too much as baby is heavy and breastfeeding is the most comfortable when we are home. So take your time and as the baby is older you will want to start doing stuff more!

absolutely! Its a loss for who you were while slowly learning who you are now. That transition can be rough!

Girl I’m the same way I don’t want to leave my house and when I have (a handful of times) I have melt downs. My doctor said postpartum depression can look different for everyone and this is in a form of anxiety when leaving the house. It is important to push ourselves or seek help when we are isolating ourselves. Start with baby steps: for example go outside for 5-10 minutes with your baby. Then increase it by going for a walk with a mom friend, etc. These are the steps I have done and are currently doing. Good luck girl and know you are not alone.

Hey I feel you, i have just started to be more active with our little one. It’s taken some time to get myself motivated, but we also have our stay at home days where we snuggle, dance, play music and sing along to twinkle twinkle little star 😁 once she has her 16week jabs I will be taking her swimming!!
I would say it’s okay to rest it’s what you need even though you may want to get back to being active. It is said that depression means “deep rest” the more you let go of expectations of how things should be or you want them to be the more joy you will find being present in the moment, it takes practice and regular grounding but not impossible for sure 🫶🏼

I can definitely relate! I have a year and half year old and I’m still struggling to figure out who I am post becoming a mom. If I’m not working I’m home barely with any time for myself. When I do I fall asleep from exhaustion. All we can do is hang in there and reach out like you’re doing when we’re at our lowest. You’re not alone ❤️

omg! same here. i’m just now trying to step out of my comfort zone and start baking and doing some artwork it’s hard but mannn… enjoy your time with your little one. they grow so fast. if u just lay with ur baby all day feed take care of them give them snuggles cherish those moments mama.
maybe start off by doing something while he takes a nap. whether that’s reading a book, having tea listen to some podcasts on ur porch, meditate? , even some light work outs in the living room. you’ll get there❤️
