My LO has started to hold herself when sitting (she pulls herself up while holding my finger with little help from me). She can stay sitting upright for a few seconds, then will either fall to one side or backwards. But sometimes she bends forwards and stays holding her feet for a little bit (something like a minute).
Is this sitting enough to start weaning?
(She is only 5months, and this is the only thing she doesn’t do yet from the weaning ready chart. I’m not looking to wean until 6 months, but I might give her a boiled carrot to entertain her if she can sit).

Yep that’s fine we did the same, once they are double their birth weight and able to hold head up 👍
Count weeks not straight months

I'm curious about the double birth weight thing as I've never heard/seen this before. Where does this advice come from please?

I’ve never heard about the weight thing, only the other signs like holding her head, sitting up with little support and reaching and putting things in her mouth.
