Hiya!
I'm home recovering from an emergency C section and living upstairs so I'm on one level for the toilet and away from the dogs.
We're slowly introducing our dogs but they're very boisterous and obviously inquisitive. Does anyone have any advice for slow introductions?
We've given them some clothes to smell and when I do pop downstairs my husband holds our baby but our girl dog whines a bit and tries to jump up. We say no and down and she does sit but obviously still very interested..
Feeling very anxious about it all and wanted some advice if possible. ❤️

I was the same with one of my boys. He was incredibly pushy and his temperament isn’t always perfect anyway. We did lots of smelling and heating baby, and the first times he met her he went for a long walk so he was tired. We then used lickimatts and similar when she was around initially. All worked out fine! X

Hi congratulations on your LO, so I have two cockapoos very hyper but quite obedient. I was terrified about the introductions. I had my mother keep them for the first week and like you give her some of babies clothes. We then met outside for a pram walk then went back into the house and held them at the door of the room and left them slowly come over one at a time it was tough and the girl dog was the same wining but just wanted fo see lo and be included, it slowly got easier and we tried to include them more and more each day. I was terrified at every meet not that they would do anything but bcos of being so hyper they’re now lovely with her, I’m still a little on edge and would never leave them but they know she’s small and part of the pack it will get easier

thank you! We've bought some toy bones they love to chew so we'll try those as well

thank you, this is exactly how I feel and I got upset the other night thinking it won't get easier. I'm glad I'm not the only one, I felt like I was being so over dramatic. I just want everyone to be happy and comfortable.

Following! My dog has only had a few brief encounters with babies so will be taking it slow. We will bring something home of babies first when she's born for him to have a sniff of. And start setting her things up soon so he can be used to being around them without being bothered xx

I found holding my dog back made her more obsessed like she was missing out so I let her in but held baby n kept reinforcing gentle n calm. nNow she interacts with him continuously but isn’t hyper or as bothered x
