Been advised by HV and suggested by GP to add baby rice to my LB’s night bottle’s to try keep it down and make him more comfortable (he’s on Nutramigen) but they’ve not said how much.
Anyone got experience with this and know how much to put in? Google says 1tsp to every ounce but I feel like that’ll make it too thick? I’m clueless!
Bought heinz baby rice.

Use carobel not baby rice they can choke so easily on rice and the NHS actively advises against it

he reacts badly to carobel and is painfully sick thick sick! This Baby rice is literally thinner than the formula though!

yes, the heinz one doesn’t x

have you tried doing a smaller dose? We were told it's a recommended amount and not to be exceeded but we can do less?

yeah started at recommended amount which was way too thick, then went down to a very minimal amount but he was still extremely unsettled with it! Does better without but still not great :(

You can call your HV again for advice if that was their recommendation. Does your baby have reflux?

might be worth seeing if it's reflux and going on something like omeprozol to help

yeah he is already on omeprazole x

i’m going to give her a ring and chat about it again! yes he does, he’s on omeprazole at the mo which seems to have helped a bit x

If he is already on Omeprazole and you see an improvement I would skip baby rice personally. It can do more harm than good and your baby is still very young. My son suffered with reflux that only settled around 8 months, so I understand you want to help your child, but if he is growing on track I would wait and see how things are just on Omeprazole. Most kids grow out of it 3/4 month mark is usually the worst.

Hey, have you tried Aptamil Anti reflux?
My girl has got bad reflux and we’ve tried every milk until Aptamil is the only one that she is on bringing up. Hope you LB is doing okay I know how hard it is xx

I don't think that ones cmpa friendly is it?

yes and it made him worse - at that point we didn’t know he had CMPA and of course that’s not CMPA friendly x

oh bless him
how did you diagnose cmpa

all symptoms pretty much and GP first prescribed aptamil pepti 1 which didn’t agree with him and he’s now settled on Nutramigen. Yet to try the milk (formula) challenge but dietician said it’s rather obvious that CMPA is what it is!
