Hi ladies,
So I always thought I’d do BLW & purée together, but baby took to purée so much better and struggled with bigger finger food.
He can pick food up, puts it in his mouth but struggles with biting, chewing, and we normally either end up with the food on the floor with one bite mark in it & none eaten, or just a soggy pile of squished toast etc. he will eat a chip but never ever took to actually eating veggie sticks.
My question is, does anyone have any food recommendations to ease him into more solid food? He happily eats the chunkier pouches of food for 7m+.
Thank you x

Broccoli was the first solid food that my LB ate and absolutely loved! I gave it to him as I would have it, so he could hold the stalk and suck the flower off! Make sure to cook it long enough that they can mush the stalk when/if they want to!
I also found that banana is really messy but he loves that too if I just tear half the banana off and give it to him. I make sure to stay with him the whole time though because they can break bigger lumps off.
Courgette slices is also a really good one.
Other than that I would say let them make a mess with some chunkier purées for now and then you can introduce these kinds of foods alongside!

I do steamed carrots, parsnips and brocolli. Or sometimes I make them into little veggie tots and my LG loves them!

Fish fingers, veggie fingers (little one loves these), chicken fingers. Just be mindful of salt content. Fruits and all of them, honestly before I did BLW, I started with snacks for little one to get used to bringing food to her mouth and chewing on it, sometimes I still offer purée but the thicker kind. My little one absolutely loves pancakes with choc spread on 😂 I would just play with different types of foods and you’ll see what he will like to eat, if this is your first baby, then please don’t stress they tend to play with foods more before the age of one as it’s all new textures for them, even just putting in their mouth and spitting it out is them trying x
Thank you all, I’ll start some experimenting!
