IVF pregnancy

I've got an appointment when I'm 36 weeks to discuss options. I don't think I want to go over 40 weeks

I was told not over 40 weeks too - they said the placenta can ‘fail’ after that time but I’ve got other ‘risk factors’ like age and diabetes so the reasons for the recommendations all merge together for me. Having said that, I was recently told my risk factor score had come down by one because IVF is only considered a risk factor in the first trimester - after that there’s no difference between our risk and that of someone who conceived naturally. I’m still aiming for natural birth but we’ll see - lots of growth scans between now and then to help us make the final decision. Good luck x

I was told not to go over 40 weeks, heard nothing about 37! I’m wanting an elective c section as I don’t like the thought of vaginal birth with induction and something like 1/4 of them end in emergency c sections anyway. When I brought it up my midwife said at 31 weeks she said she would make me an appt with the birthing team to discuss. I defo don’t want too early but just going to take the advice really x

I'm pregnant with an IVF baby, and having a C-section due to my own health condition. The consultant said the aim was 39 weeks but it could be earlier depending on me and baby.
I've not personally heard anything about 37 weeks.

I’m brewing an IVF baby too, not heard anything about when but will be having a c section as I’m paralysed and have risk factors they just say we’ll discuss at birth plan appointment at 35 weeks. I’m 29 now

My consultant has said I can go to 41+2 which seems quite different to all the advice you have been given. I will ask my midwife

Also advised to be induced at 39 weeks with my ivf baby - but in two minds about whether to elect for c section 😩😩 xx

yeah my friend had a really positive induction experience but I’ve heard negative stories too 🤷‍♀️ and I was originally so against a c section if I could help it but now I’m in two minds about electing for one too - it’s so confusing with some many different inputs Xx

One thing that worried me is that there are some studies saying c section scarring of the uterus can hinder implantation if you do a second IVF pregnancy. BUT I’ve kind of come to terms with that, IVF is such a ridiculous numbers game anyway, just feels like another statistic that may or may not end up applying.

I did IUI so not as full on as ivf and hoping for a water birth. They’ve not mentioned inducing or anything & consultant seems happy so far. An elective c-section is an option but I’m on my own so don’t fancy the recovery
