My baby boy has been exclusively breast feeding and turns 3 months old on Thursday. He weighed 12 lbs 5 oz at his doc appt today. He is in the 22nd percentile for weight. Should I supplement with formula? Doc recommends I do but my concern is that he will not nurse well and I will have to wean him sooner and am worried to loose the close bond we have now.

I added formula once a feed — he drinks both! No issues - he still loves me

You absolutely don’t have to. Is he content? Enough wet and dirty diapers? All babies are different sizes and you would know if he still seems hungry? If he does then yes! Fed is best! ❤️ but if he seems content with EBF than don’t worry!!

What has his weight percentile been at previous weigh ins? If he’s always been at or near that percentile I wouldn’t. If he is dropping percentiles (e.g used to be at 50+) I would consider lactation consultant appointment
