PPROM 27 weeks plus 2 days

Hey, writing this as I currently sat in hospital feeling scared and anxious. My waters broke last night at 27 weeks +2 days. I’m being kept in and monitored over the next 48 hours. I’ve been given steroids and antibiotics. I feel so nervous and scared about now being vulnerable to getting a really serious life threatening infection. Does anyone have any positive stories or in a similar situation ? Feeling so helpless and worried about it all.

Hi lovely mine went at 25+5 and little man is still inside. Join the group on facebook 'pprom premature rupture of membranes waters break, little heartbeats support'

The little heart beats website you can also request a care package which comes with loads of information leaflets and items to take you mind off things.

There are hundreds of good news stories on there.

As for my story I'm now 28+6 I leak occasionally my waters are looking OK. I get scanned every 2 weeks and have bloods and swabs weekly to test for infection.

My first swabs and bloods after pprom came back as having ecoli and high infection markers. I was readmitted with iv antibiotics and discharged after 48 hours with oral antibiotics and it cleared :)

You should be signed off work now until maternity leave and rest as much as possible. I'm still continuing to do day to day thinga just not pushing myself too hard.

Good luck! Please feel free to pm xx

Mine broke around 32 weeks and I leaked loads of fluid every day until the 37th week. I was due to induced as soon as 37th hit but LO came spontaneously day before. The whole experience made me even more anxious and scared to do anything.

When you have PProm and Labour doesn't happen soon thereafter the hospital will keep check and ask u to go in anyway as there is a protocol they follow when it happens. Mine was initally twice per week for bloods and scans but then it was pretty much everyday for bloods and monitoring in the last 2 weeks as I'd had to go in for reduced movements, but managed to go around 5 weeks with waters having broken! I didnt have the steroids nor did I get an infection but the whole thing just put me so on edge.

Just make sure you rest and if you are unsure of anything ask the consultants at the hospital, I made them explain everything to me and double checked things with them like a hundred times and they were all so helpful at putting my mind at ease x

Sounds like you’re getting the care and medication you need! I PPROM’d at 28 weeks but it wasn’t confirmed until I was 30 weeks. I was leaking for 2 weeks before they realized it was amniotic fluid. I was induced at 37 weeks. My boy is almost 1 now, and healthy as can be!

You’re past viability now which is great, and it’s important they were able to give the steroids in time too. All the unknowns are sooo hard. Every new day is a win. Praying that your baby stays inside for as long as possible ❤️

Thanks so much for the messages. Making me feel a bit more positive. I have found it hard receiving all the information on different scenarios but not getting any certainty on anything xxx
