Anyone else really struggle with going food shopping alone with their 15/16 month old? I sit him in the trolley and he just climbs out, so I let him walk and he just runs around wild in the shop pulling everything off the shelf. I try to carry him and push the trolley but then will just wriggle out of my arms. I’m dreading the next time we have to go shopping as I feel like I look like a bad mum that I can’t control her child but I really don’t know what I should do. It’s such a difficult age to discipline in my opinion, so any advice is appreciated!

Hi, mum. I do understand you. It's the same with my 15 months old. Really difficult shopping with him. I try to keep him in the seat with baby snacks munching or purées. Whilst he's busy with those, I try to quickly do my shopping. Last resort - cartoons on the phone. Main idea to keep him distract of the ahepves and in his pram/ trolley seat. Good luck mama.

I always start by going to the toy aisle and picking up a book or toy from there that she can "borrow" on the way round the shop. And then I put it back before I pay. It works for some of the time!! Otherwise I use Tesco click and collect where you can do it online and then literally drive in and put the shopping in the boot without having to get them out! They often have same day slots as well x

Urgh, I feel this! We do our big shops online and get it delivered to us once she’s in bed.
But even small food shops are a pain! 😂 a toy is a must, snacks, give her random food to hold, dummy, my partner turned the trolly round the other way, she she couldn’t see us, we looked a bit bonkers, but it worked for a little bit 😆 x

We have this problem too! Even with two adults, snacks, toys and screen time it can end up being a nightmare. We’ve started doing our big shop as a delivery or click and collect instead and if we need anything in between, one of us pops to the small supermarket near home or if one of us has to take the babe, we strap him in his buggy with snacks and a toy whilst we carry/pull a basket x

I have to give mine a banana to eat in the way round (I weigh it and get a label first 🙈) otherwise she gets upset everytime I put something in the trolley that she can’t eat immediately, particularly fruit 😂 we sing lots of nursery rhymes on the way round as well! And on the days I cba we do click and collect!
Thank you! Reassuring to know I’m not the only one who struggles, I’ll try with more snacks 😭😭

Snacks definitely help, I find a rich tea biscuit is good as it takes a while for my LG to munch through ha so I can run around and get what's needed xx
