We introduced the spoon when our kids started walking or around ten months. My son will be 2 in October, and he still doesn't use his utensils correctly. He tries to "scoop and stab" and make it to his mouth, but he eventually gives up and uses his hands. My older kids started really using their utensils around 2.5yrs. They still make messes and miss their mouths, and they're almost four and almost five.

They're all different!! My son was off and on with using utensils at age 1. I recall many flying across the room, slingshotting food, etc.(not always intentionally). He probably was 2 when he started to actively use them. It's frustrating learning new things!

Mine isn't great and usually ends up chewing the wrong end lol I've started using exaggerated gestures when using my own utensils to show him how to do it properly but it's no issue that he's not getting it straight away. They'll learn at their own pace š
