Hi all! Just wondering for those of you with breech babies - when did you find out for sure ? My last few appointments they have suspected baby may be breech from examination but said they won’t scan to confirm or not until after my 36 week appointment! I will actually be (36.5) I can see why this is to give the baby maximum time to turn but it’s also quite anxiety provoking not knowing whether I need to mentally prepare for ECV / c-section! Not sure if I should ask for a scan/ review a a bit earlier!

My boy was head down until I had my midwife appointment at 31 weeks and scan confirmed at 32 weeks! I have another scan next Fri at 34 to see if he's moved. I don't think there's any harm in asking if its giving you anxiety not knowing xx

I am 34 + 4 and my midwife has been feeling my tummy since my original appointment where she was transverse, then confirmed at my private scan at 26 weeks she was breech and has stayed that way pretty much since then - I can tell where she is, left side with feet down kicking me in the pelvis/ vagina or bottom right side... and her head is above my belly button... where do you feel kicks?
Even though you're not sure about babies position you could try doing spinning babies positions to try and get baby to move into optimum position... I'm trying to do them everyday this week to get baby to turn but yeah that 36 week scan is looming for ke too! 😊 I think you can ask to wait/ push things back to give baby more time to turn, even if they do recommend c section

@Aimée can I ask when your c section is booked for? 😊 just wondering what they recommend at the 36 week scan 👍

So I'm having regularly growth scans for other reasons. The first time he's been breech was during a scan, since then he was transverse- this was picked up by the midwife during an examination and it did match how I was feeling movements.
I had a scan this afternoon at 34 weeks and he is breech. If at midwife appointments it's suspected he's still breech approaching 36 weeks then they will scan again then. If not then my next routine one is at 38 weeks.
Today they said they were still expecting him to turn so even if they did scan you earlier, you still won't know what's actually know until after the 36 week mark I'm afraid. I have researched the ECV and c sections and made my decisions for if he stays breech x
Yeah I realise baby could still turn or remain breech however I’m keen to do some positions to turn the baby which I don’t want to do unless I know 100% which is why I wanted to find out sooner so I can be more active in trying to get the baby to turn. Yes but it’s only an educated guess as she’s not 100% if she is feeling head or bum so a scan would confirm this!

Yes I understand what you're saying. I would suggest doing the movements regardless, they won't do harm x

I found out my baby was breech during the first anatomical ultrasound, around 20 weeks

Babies can always turn and I heard of babies turning to breech at 40 weeks which had been head down the whole time so I would mentally prepare for ecv or c section and a vaginal birth. I've done an extra birth plan in case I need the c section for this reason. My baby's hiccups tell me where the head and chest is and it's quite obvious how the spine and legs lie if I just lean back so I know. But I also know baby moves between head down and transverse so preparing myself for either scenario whilst hoping it will be head down on the big day. Best of luck to you all. Stay strong and positive! Just think we will get our babies in our arms one way or another.
Midwives should check baby positioning while measuring bump at every appointment and they would send for a scan at 37 weeks if they think it's malpositioned at that appt.
