What weeks do they do growth scans in 3rd trimester?

I have not had a growth scan and i am already in my 33rd week. I tried ringing my midwife and i see that nothing is scheduled for the coming weeks too. Is it a miss from their end, or do they not do any scans if no risks in pregnancy? I know that my baby is breech based on my midwife appointment, but would really like a scan to know his current position.

I believe growth scans are only scheduled in for those with high row pregnancies, and tend to be 28weeks, 32, 36.

I only having a growth scan because of previous large baby x mine was 28weeks , 32,36 .

Yeah it’s only for high risk pregnancies or if your baby is not growing during your checks with the midwife

Avatar

I had one because I was under 5 centile I had one at 30 weeks then at 32 weeks that’s it

I was offered 3 scans - 12w, 20w and 36w (last one was booked at my 20w scan).

I do feel even if you are low risk, they should still offer 1 scan towards the end, for general risk assessment, baby position, estimated weight etc.

They aren’t routinely offered, you are only referred on for them if there is a need for them

They only give them to high risk pregnancies, I had one ever 2 weeks because he was meant to big (he wasn’t big when he was born😂) and I was having reduced movements!

Avatar

agreed 👍 we’re going for a 4D scan on Friday so that I can see the baby and have a well-being scan at 32 weeks. I do feel they need to offer a third scan around 30 weeks.

I had one at 32 weeks and tomorrow when il be 35 weeks :) IVF pregnancy tho so classed as high risk even though baby is all good 😁

Avatar

Typically 36 weeks.

I have them 28, 32 and 36 for Low Papp A but have also had one for reduced movements at 34 weeks

Avatar

I believe you only have them if they think there is a reason to do it.
I had one at 32 weeks with my second because my placenta was low, it’s moved but I now have another at 35 weeks as they found her to be toes down.
With my first I had one growth scan but that was because his movements slowed down on 2 occassions

I had one at 28, 30, 32, 35 and will be having 36 and possibly another 37 weeks. It’s all depends when they send you for one and reason behind it. I have so many because of baby is big and other issues. I wish I didn’t need that many. My sister had nothing other than initial scans as her pregnancy was absolutely fine.

32, 35 and 38 for me

Avatar

Not just for high risk. I am classed as ‘low risk’ but baby is measuring larger, so I am being scanned at 32 and 36 weeks.

Avatar

I'm only having growth scans co I had a small baby. This one is big though, so extra ones. I think if it's high risk, ortheyre worried about baby weight.

Avatar

You don’t get growth scans automatically, it’s only if they need to do extra checks (there’s literally so many different reasons for it)

Avatar

I was told I would not get a growth scan unless they feel a lot of fluid on my belly or that he hasn’t grown x

Avatar

Some areas have a growth/positioning scan at 36 weeks but it's not standard practice and majority don't without extra risk factors.

Avatar

Growth scans are not offered unless there's a need for them. If your baby is still breech at your 26 week midwife appointment, then you'll be referred for a scan to check babys position and decide next steps (this is my current situation). X

My hospital does a routine 36 week growth scan for everyone!

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?

Movements

I’m 28 weeks tomorrow. Yesterday I had loads and loads of movements but today I have only felt small flutters and a couple of kicks throughout the day. I get so confused as some people say they don’t have a pattern but others say they do. We have a Doppler so used it this evening and could hear the heartbeat and then moving but does anyone else get quieter days of movement than others? I am seeing my midwife tomorrow so will check but just find myself getting anxious about it and don’t know when to get checked. I know they encourage it but last time as soon as I got to triage baby started moving loads!
