My baby is healthy and growing well, but as I’ve had multiple losses before my consultant wants to induce me early to be on the safe side - is anybody else being induced at 38 weeks?

Eugh I wish 😩 I’ve had 6 misscarriages and they’ve just said he’s probably due to come early but won’t put me in for an induction

that’s ridiculous! I had three in a row and my consultant first mentioned inducing me early when I was 16 weeks. I think you can request it closer to the time, especially if you’re in so much pain!

I think it’s because since having my 3 year old I’ve only had 2 miscarriages since and they’re saying as she was fine (which she wasn’t she was born with an infection as it had been over 24 hours of my waters breaking) they’re just waiting for it to happen normally

Can i ask how many weeks you had your miscarriages as ive had 2 but they were well early in first trimester but would loved to be induced at 38 weeks as im 32 now and really struggling😩

ah, I see 😕 even so, I think you should be able to request an induction at 39 weeks

they were all really early on too, 5-7 weeks along. I think it might be because my consultant thinks early induction is a good idea in general, and also because I lost my first baby at 23 weeks as he had a heart condition. I really think you can ask closer to the time to be induced at 39 weeks, I’m pretty sure I read it somewhere

I will defo speak to my midwife about it at my next appt thank u! X

I was induced just before 38 weeks with my first and he was born exactly on 38 weeks x

did they give you drugs first or did they do a membrane sweep etc?

I’m not sure that previous losses are an indication for an early induction 🤔 are they worried about your waters breaking too early? At 38 weeks you’d be full term though. Maybe some more research!

I had membrane sweep in hospital just before they put the pessary in and then had that put in for 24 hours and then they checked after and I had dilated just enough so then I was up to Labour ward, waters broken and put on the drip and pretty much gave birth 10 hours later x

🙏 That your baby makes their own way into this world- wishing you a safe delivery 🙏

didn’t see this last week - I’d never heard of it either until my consultant mentioned it. I haven’t been able to find any research on it online, which does make me question things slightly. At least 38 weeks seems to be safe, so I’ll probably go ahead with my consultant’s advice.
