Should have asked the midwife yesterday, I’m low risk and I’ve been told there’s no reason why I can’t go into the birthing centre at my hospital. This is on my birth plan too (I hope). Do you just turn up and try go there at the time? Or are you meant to book in? All seems a bit vague…

Don’t need to book but definitely ring ahead when it all starts!

Is your birth centre within your maternity unit mine is and I just rang up and said I think I'm in active labour my birth plan is for a water birth in birth centre and they checked the room was ready for me arriving

I have to book a tour and book in with mine in advance so would be worth ringing them to double check

My birth center had a phone number you called and they have me all registered and are expecting me to come around my due date. So when I started having contractions pretty close together I just called and they were prepared for me to come in in the next hour.

I had to be referred to the birthing unit with my midwife and then get accepted. It’s probably different at different hospitals x
