So I’m supposed to be 18 weeks and I found out yesterday there is no heartbeat and I have a scheduled D&C today 😭 does anyone have any advice or what I should expect? How does this go? TIA!

Haven’t had it done but wanted to wish you strength and speedy recovery both mentally and physically.
thank you so so much

I had a D&E with a similar situation. Hope you recover well and I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I don't have any tips, but my recovery didn't take long.
My milk did come in about 2 days after, and cabbage leaves in my sports bra soothed the pain and stopped my milk.
Good luck ❤️🩹
I had no idea I’d still get milk 😭 thank you though I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through this as well 💕

I'm not sure if the hormones through the delivery part caused it and if it'd be the same with a D&C or not, but for the sake of your healing I hope your milk doesn't come in. Best of luck! You're so strong!

Im sorry for your loss.
Lots of rest, treat it like a full term postpartum pregnancy, heating pads, soft foods, etc. hugs.

Oh Also mentally prepare for your body to do everything a normal body would after pregnancy. Your body will still be in shock and not process that you’re no longer pregnant and you may produce milk.
I really hope not that just sounds painful. I also was wondering if they put you under general anesthesia or not? thank you so much. This just sounds like postpartum all over again ugh

Well since I had a D&E they offered me a variety of pain meds: epidural, morphine, something else. I chose the epidural since it seemed closer to the birth I was expecting. I think for D&C they offer general anesthesia (can't remember but they did go over that option with me)
oh okay I’m sure they will go over it once they start, I googled it and I kinda know the gist of what will happen, my appointment is in two hours

Ah thats so soon!!! I hope it goes smoothly for you!

I had a D&C today it was a bit different because I was only 9 weeks it was so fast I don’t remember anything and I feel much better today than I did before the d and c. I had a rough few weeks. I had deep sedation instead of being fully
Knocked out

It honestly depends you could be put to sleep or they could do it awake just depends on their general procedure
