I decided this since day one. But I'm a little worried about being able to produce enough milk because I struggled with my supply with my first born. So it's hard to know if I'll need to with my 2nd. Did any mommas breastfeed and formula feed? Or can you mix your breastmilk and formula into a bottle together?

I'm in the same boat. I have a hormonal problem that causes my supply to not be great but I still want to try

I breastfed but lots of mamas combo feed and do both! Best way to ensure your supply is to latch every 2 hours round the clock until baby regains birth weight. Then switch to every 1.5 hours during the day and on demand at night (but never going more than 4 hours without feeding). Those early days and weeks set a huge tone of how much milk your body makes easily which is why they recommend avoiding bottles and pacifiers for the first 6 weeks if you want to EBF. Then when baby is 6 weeks old it switches to supply a demand. The more you nurse the more milk. The less the less. (Pumping can also be a substitute for this in early days or later days if you want to give a bottle you have to pump while baby is feeding so your body knows it still needs that milk) la Leche League is a wonderful resource. There’s a lot of bad info out there. Drs and pediatricians are not trained in lactation so I had to learn first time around their advice can be harmful. Best of luck!

hi is there something that we can eat/drink during pregnancy that help increase milk production and being able to breastfeed?

Combo feeding is okay! Avoid mixing formula and breastmilk in the same bottle though if you can! The breastmilk has antibodies in it that can help it last longer, but if you mix with formula, if baby doesn't finish a feed you have to throw it away, which wastes your hard-pumped milk! Better to give a feeding with all breastmilk and then a different feeding with all formula, if you can!

not that I know of but this is a great question to ask a la Leche league leader! They have a Facebook group where they answer everyone’s questions. They’re so knowledgeable and compassionate. It was invaluable resource to me nursing my first and all the difficulties I had in the start. I know they always say that nursing is big on supply and demand like I said. So if you can try your best to nurse on demand and at least every 2 hours round the clock in the beginning that does wonders for establishing a great supply. You get the boost of hormones in the beginning that helps with supply then it’s all supply and demand. The more your empty the more milk your body will make. You can still up your supply after the hormones stop helping but it becomes more difficult which can be discouraging to a lot of moms.

Okay I'll definitely look them up.

this is the fb group. Seriously one of the best resources I had as a new mom who wanted to exclusively breastfeed. My baby had low muscle tone in her mouth which led to painful latching for her first 3 months. This group helped me get better latch so I could be comfortable helped with resources on what specialist to see to help her oral muscle issues and helped me achieve my goal. I’m still nursing her through this pregnancy and so thankful for this group they’re incredible wealth of knowledge and amazing professionals

I've been looking into the formula brand called Kendermil. It's organic and has super healthy ingredients in it for baby. That's why I wondered if it would be giving baby the best of both worlds. Thank you so much!! I didn't know mixing them together would do that.

I've found a lot of resources through other moms on Tik tok. They walk you step by step through the process of making diffrent drinks or even other things to eat.

Look up breastfeeding podcasts, I've learned a ton from them!

Love that idea I didn't even think about it. Thank you!!!
