16 week scan, short cervix and funnelling

Hey, I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and I have a little boy who was born 6 weeks early so I have been referred to high risk scans. I’ve just had my 16 week scan and they have sent me to triage for funnelling and a short cervix. I’m waiting in the room for the dr now but they seem to be really
Worried; it was just meant to be a scan now I’m sat in triage as a matter of emergency. Has anyone had this?

It’s great they’ve caught onto it early, and hopefully there’s something they can do.
If they’ve seen funnelling and your cervix has shortened, they’ll likely talk about options like a cerclage or progesterone, in order to make sure your cervix doesn’t continue to thin entirely and encourage premature labour.
I had a baby a month early, surgery on my cervix and so have had a couple of cervical length checks in this pregnancy. I haven’t experienced shortening, but I have been on progesterone since 7 weeks and am taking until I’m 36 weeks, which the consultant told me can be as effective as a cerclage and would hopefully prevent any shortening.
I can imagine if was really scary to be told, but hopefully they can reassure you. Good luck x

Thank you, I’ve been told I have to stay overnight and have emergency surgery tomorrow morning to have a stitch on my cervix. It’s 15ml and funnelling when I cough so it’s urgent in a sense I will most likely miscarry. Just in such shock

Ahhh Lydia, I’m keeping everything crossed for you. I really hope you make it to surgery and it helps. I don’t sleep well and I’m sure you won’t tonight so if you need someone to chat to please reach out x

thank you so much, feel so scared and shocked. I have a 6 month old and my poor partner is terrified. Thought I’d be able to go home but they want to monitor me and get me in to surgery first thing

This happened to me 4 weeks ago! I went for a scan to check my length and my son was born early. I was already in progesterone. So the only option I had was a stitch. Which happened the next day. Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to xx

I know it's scary, but knowing about this should definitely be seen as a positive. Preventing preterm birth clinics where women other risk factors are scanned regularly haven't been around for more than a few years! Prior to this, it was based on previous history or incidental scan findings.
Cerclages work really well. They're usually removed at around 36 weeks.
Good luck lovely. Definitely try and see this as a bonus that it's been found and managed! X

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!

Anyone else’s owlet pi##ing them off ?!?! It goes off 5/6 a night saying it can’t get a reading and needs a snug fit. My baby is 8 months old so moves a lot. It is driving me insane and I keep end up taking it off!!
