Hi all I just got setup for my first appt at exactly the 12 week mark. Is anybody else in the same situation or is that too late for a first appt? They told me to go to my local urgent care (covered by my insurance) if I have any concerns until I become a patient with them. I feel fine and I’m sure I’m just antsy and excited more than anything but it seems like a long wait?

Mine as well!

I was just talking to a nurse at the clinic I was at to get a pregnancy confirmation. She asked me when I had an appointment w my OB and I told her they couldn’t see me until I was 16 weeks along. Her exact response was “You know when I was having babies (she’s probably 40-50) if we showed up at 9 weeks they asked us what took so long to come in” and I genuinely burst out laughing bc we are calling our docs at 5 weeks and not even being seen until we’re basically out of the first trimester. I get it, we have a lot of people and we all seem to be pregnant but DANG. Why sooo long? There’s so much to check for in the first trimester.

I'm so sorry, you guys are having to wait for so long. If it were me, I would drive out of my way to find care sooner. My doc does an ultrasound as early as possible to ruel out ectopic or any other issues. I am overly cautious with everything though, so that's the type of care I expect. If it's an option for you, maybe see if you can find someone good not too far away that can get to you sooner?

I so badly wanted twins!! So far just one little babe.

Yes! The soonest they could get me in was the 13th week. Soo much worry built up just waiting!

that’s the frustrating part my sister had a high risk pregnancy due to her blood type too and I have no idea what mine is so I won’t even know if I’m high risk until my appt, it’s torture having to wait!

That type of blood test is easy gotten at a quest diagnostics. I wouldn't imagine it would cost very much for your peace of mind. However, I am also RH negative and the likelihood of the blood crossing at this stage is very small unless you are injured in some way. So I wouldn't worry too much. They won't give you a rhogam shot until you're much further along anyway

New OB appts start at 8 weeks at my clinic, but my doctor has had me come in for viability and progress scans at 6 and 7 weeks due to history of miscarriage.
I’m at a fertility clinic now so it’s protocol to have a viability check at 6 weeks, another check at 8 weeks before you graduate to your OB. Given my history these are the appts I’m getting between the two doctors
6 week fertility clinic
7 week fertility clinic
8 week fertility clinic
10 week regular OB
12-14 regular OB.

What I’be heard so far… (and I could be wrong because this is my first) is that high risk are usually sooner and more frequent than a person not at risk. I’m high risk because I’m 36 years old. My first appoint was when I was 6 weeks 5 days.

I will be 11.5 weeks

I went to a pregnancy center first. They did a pregnancy test to confirm and then did the ultrasound. They saw me twice (1 week apart) because when I went I was so early. Free of charge. It’s called Oasis Pregnancy center and they have multiple locations. My OB took 3 weeks to even schedule me and I still haven’t seen them yet but I’m scheduled next week.
