I’m not sure if it’s me or if there is actually an issue. I have a 15 month old little boy and everyone seems to have something to say on his development. He hasn’t taken his first steps yet and as far as words go the only word he is saying consistently is mama he has no other words. He holds no attention to stories or books and doesn’t really have objective play with toys. He doesn’t mimic animal sounds or anything and overall I’m just immensely worried about him. Is it me? Am I worrying over nothing or should I bring him to get checked out? My health visitor is useless and hasn’t seen us since January nor does she want to and I just don’t know what to do #development #toddler

I think as mums we do naturally worry about their development. I wouldn't get overly concerned until the 18 months mark. All babies develop at their own pace, some babies at 15 months can have a conversation, others can say a word or a few words, others can walk independently from 11 months, others won't start taking wobbly steps until they're 18 months. Up until around 1 month ago I was so concerned about my lb, he can only say 5 words, can imitate 1 animal noise and has taken a few steps unaided but I think he's still a couple of months away from walking independently. I mean I never walked until I was 18 months, and only said a few words until I was 24+ months x

My lb only just started walking after his first birthday. And started crawling at 11 months old. He never said dada. Always said mama. Never even made the ‘D’ sound. He doesn’t mimic words or anything. Children develop at different rates. It’s so hard to not compare your child to others but try not too xx

I would suggest playing things like miss rachel on YouTube in the backgroud whilst he is playing. Its shocking what kids might pick up, retain and whenhe doestalk he willhave a lot of words stored up hun.
As a mother i have tried my best to help my LO develop but ultimately you can only do so much.
If youre concerned then i would speak to your Dr and see what they advise x
