So I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant and I just had an OB visit. My blood pressure has been creeping up. Today it was 145/99. I've been experiencing lots of contractions and am 1/2 cm dilated. Doctor plans on having me induced next week... Has anyone here been induced before? What should I expect? I've had one friend who's been induced, but said she had a negative experience. Is there anything I can do to prepare myself?

I was induced. I would make sure you’re packed for more than 48 hours. I’d say at least 4 days… BRING SNACKS. I can’t emphasize this enough. I labored for 36 hours after my induction… halfway through I opted for an epidural. They do allow more movement on the epidural than they made me aware of as I’ve found out on TikTok so I would ask to see if they would help you onto all 4s as that can help progress the labor. Ask for a peanut ball and look up ways to progress labor.
I know women that have had successful vaginal births. Mine resulted in a c section which broke my heart for a bit but I still got a wonderful little boy.

I chose to be induced at 40w with my second (I was just over it). I was 2cm, they gave me cervidil to start. A pill placed vaginally to help ripen the cervix. That brought me to 3cm. The monitor was showing mild contractions but I didn't feel anything. They started pitocin, but the day shift nurse was very conservative with the dose and nothing was happening. Again the monitor showed mild contractions, but I didn't feel anything. They did a membrane sweep and broke my water to try and speed things up, but for me personally the only thing that worked was when night shift came in and increased the pitocin. Then I continued to dilate and things sped up from 5cm to birth in 45 minutes. I think that was a second baby vs 1st baby thing though because it did not move quite that fast with my first daughter.
The contractions were intense, but I don't have a non-pitocin reference point 🤷♀️ I went without an epidural (which is what I preferred) and baby was born safely.

thank you so much!

I’m 36+5 days think I’m having contractions because it hurts so bad in my lower back

Why next week? With that pressureI would push to have baby out asap, that is no joke.

Right

I don’t want to scare you but i was induced before
And it didn’t go as i planned but that’s not to say yours won’t be perfect.
I will say keep a positive mind, everything negative i thought would happen ended up happening!
W my second i had high blood pressure and that’s nothing to play w
Do your research it’s not good for your or the baby

Went for my weekly appointment yesterday at 36weeks, they take a swab sample with my vagina and anus for antenatal screening for streptococcus, and my blood pressure is a bit high 136/92, the OB told me to monitor my BP at home, if it will go up over 140/90 I should contact them, and they checked it again before I went home and it’s 138/102🤣😂 it’s crazy.
