With my previous pregnancy I had a really traumatic induction so would like to avoid another one at all costs. Im hoping to go into labour naturally but if I don’t I was going to ask my midwife if I can have an elective C-section but then I keep thinking am I being silly for not trying an induction as I could have a different experience this time round? And could I have some positive C-section stories please 🙏

I had the LOVELIEST c-section. I went for an induction, it took 7 days and failed and I ended up being sent to another hospital for a c section and I was sooo stressed but OMG the actual c-section was the most lovely experience. They let me meet the anaesthetist beforehand, I got to choose the radio station we listened to, everything was explained as it was happening and it felt so calm and under control. It took about 15 mins for baby to be born and they let me have skin-to-skin as soon as his cord was cut (understandably they can't do both delayed cord clamping and immediate skin-to-skin with a c-section but it was a delay of only about 2 minutes). The nurse took loads of lovely photos of me and my husband and the baby as it was happening on my husband's phone as he was allowed to take it in. My recovery was smooth and yes it is pretty uncomfortable for the first few days but they gave me ALL the painkillers so I was still easily able to function. By 2 weeks post-birth I felt pretty much back to normal.

My section was the best thing I ever did. At 40 weeks my son wasn't engaging and with spinal issues and potential risk of going under general I waited till 41 weeks and decided I wanted a section. They booked me in for an induction 4 days later but I was told I should refuse it and ask for the section. I did this and whilst the day was a bit stressful left hanging a few times (would have been better if I'd been told to ask at 40 weeks) it still was the best decision. My body healed so much better because it hadn't been through hours/days of labour and I genuinely didn't have any major issues post section and the care was amazing.
2 weeks post birth I was doing really well and aside from being cautious just in case I felt relatively normal considering. I still had some pain and discomfort for the first 2 weeks but it was a lot better than I'd expected
