Hi girls, I’ve had a growth scan today at 36+1 and been told baby is now in 93rd percentile and weighing 7lbs 3oz. They have now given me the option of an early induction or planned early c section. I can still wait it out and try leave nature to it if I prefer but just wondering if anyone else is in this position and what you’re choosing to do? Xx

Our baby girls in the 97th percentile and I’ve opted for an elective c section x

Hi, I had this same chat yesterday with my consultant. One of the reasons for suggested early induction is reduced risk of shoulder distocia and i personally dont want to risk it. I have other reasons to suggest early delivery anyway so opted for early induction (38 weeks). Took a bit of getting my head round as I had expected to go to 41 weeks given its my first.
Do whatever feels right for you, Induction vs c section both had pros and cons.

Out of curiosity what week are they offering you early induction? I’ve had the same thing and should be finding out next week (36+4) if they’ll suggest induction

they have booked me another appointment for 2 weeks time (I’ll be 38+1) and I presume if I decided to go ahead they’d do it shortly after that x

I'm 35+6 and I'm 88 percentile, they've booked me in for a scan 22/09 meaning I'll be coming up to 38 weeks, but I'm getting worried because people keep saying the babies bigger then normal (I'm sat over here thinking I'm having a 10lb + baby!!) Will I be induced shortly after? They do make you worry don't they... x

they said they won’t scan me again after today as the further along you are the less accurate they will be! But it’s hard to make a decision when I don’t know if he’ll be a 9lb baby (which would probs be fine) or whether he’s gonna be 10lb+ (would probs opt for c section if this was the case). It is a worry though and so hard to know what to do for the best! X

yes they said that to me about shoulder distocia but also said it can happen with smaller babies as well anyway. It’s such a lot to get your head around any it. Good luck for your induction! X

I had the same conversation yesterday. Can have an induction at 38 weeks, or c section booked in 39 weeks. They seem to think I might labour natural by 38 weeks anyway so trying to decide what to do!

that’s interesting! I think I might do everything I can to induce labour naturally then make a decision in 2 weeks 😬 x
