My little one will not sleep anywhere other than on me! I’ve tried everything, swaddling, letting her fall asleep on me and putting her down, even let her cry it out, but nothing works!
This is what she is like if I put her down in her cot!
I’m a single parent and everyday running off very little sleep because it’s so difficult and dangerous for me to fall asleep with her on me!
I’ve been discharged by my midwife and currently don’t have a health visitor, I just don’t know what to do anymore, I’m severely struggling mentally now because it’s so damn draining!

Ohhh bless you I can’t imagine how difficult that is🥺 does your little one sleep on her front on you or on her back? I have heard people use osteopaths before to help with babies sleeping x

She sleeps on her front and most of the time buries her head in like my armpit! She’s not a fan of sleeping on her back! Even during the day I can’t put her down, she’ll go in her rocker for a short period of time but not long! Can’t even do tummy time of anything! If I ever want to clean or cook, I have to have her in the sling! It’s so so difficult!

she might have silent reflux if she prefers to sleep on her front ask your dr to prescribe baby gaviscon and see if that could help, she may just be a high needs baby there’s not too much you can do apart from maybe ask friends/family for extra support if possible🥺

Yeah she’s been like it since birth, she’s 6.5 weeks old now and only once she’s slept in her cot for about 4 hours😓 gonna try get onto the doctors but they’re pretty useless!

This was her breathing the other morning and doctors weren’t concerned and just said she’s fine! At times she was grasping for air and really struggling!

My niece is 4 months and she’s exactly like this too my little one is the opposite so I think it’s down to temperament a lot, tell them you haven’t got a health visitor as well as they are usually the ones who check up on your mental well-being and can offer extra support for you x

I’m in the process of trying to change my doctors because they’re so useless! I called and asked for them to book my 8 week post natal as I had c section and want it checked soon and baby immunisations and she wouldn’t and just told me to wait for a letter…
I’m getting a new health visitor next week I believe, so will discuss it with them also! But I will definitely be chasing doctors for help too because I am physically and mentally exhausted!😓

Shocking they’ve definitely not offered you much post natal care at all😳 hopefully your health visitors able to offer some good advice & support🙏🏼 I can’t imagine how exhausted you are bless you! I hope you get everything sorted and get some help hang on in there💕

If you had a c-section it’s very likely she has mucus blocked up . From boots you can get a saline solution we found it helped us significantly

Outside of all the amazing suggestions from the ladies above my LO always go to sleep when in the car, if you’re really struggling you could always go for a small drive to get your LO to nod off. Just so you can get some peace x

I don’t drive so unfortunately that’s not an option! Even if I take her for a walk, as soon as we get home she notices and wakes up! It’s so odd! Right now I’ve managed to get her to sleep in her cot, but it’s her sleeping on her front, so now I can’t sleep because they’re not supposed to sleep on their front so I’m keeping an eye on her, I just can’t win😓😂

Have you tried the Zed sleeping aid? I was having the exact same issue and yesterday we tried using it for the first time and it seemed to help us a lot thank goodness! It’s only been one day but I managed to get her down in the cot for the first time since she was about 2 weeks old! Xx

I’ve never heard of it, what is it?

I’ve not tried this yet (ordered but not yet received) but have you seen the ‘zed’ by rockit? The theory is it mimics the vibrations of being out in the pram or car and can be placed in the crib. As I say not used it yet but I’ve ordered one from vinted to try it out. As your little one falls asleep in the pram, might be worth trying if you can find one for a good price? x
My LO loves being in on his side so i understand the feeling x

it’s like a little device that vibrates the cot! Xx

I was also about to suggest the Rockit! If your LO likes being in the pram, you can put it on when you come home and she might sleep longer in her bassinet. Our LO responds really well to it.

Do you have a sleepyhead? A lot of backlash on them but so good for baby sleeping in them i find x

I find the sleepyhead good for my little one for a supervised nap during the day but my LO is a roller so don’t use overnight due to suffocation risk

I couldn't live without the sleepyhead. My baby wouldn't sleep in the next to me for first 5 weeks. Now she goes the whole night (with feeds)

same with my little one! I put a blanket underneath my daughter to boost her up a bit so she wouldnt directly roll onto the bumpers works a treat xx

My eldest wad very similar, I ended up co-sleeping from 5 weeks and she slept for 4 hour stretches. She would sleep slightly raised on my arm as she always seemed congested. She's 16 months old now and will sleep in her cot, but still co-sleeps some nights. I know it's scary at first, but it's do worth it to get sleep and just follow the safe sleep for co-sleeping. My 8 week old will occasionally sleep with me if she is being fussy, which is usually about 4/5am

Yeah I have to co sleep, but she will only settle on my chest, she won’t sleep next to me or anywhere! I got told off by midwife for doing it but I have no choice unless I don’t want me or her to get any sleep!

@Kerry I did this for 5 weeks also
Sometimes needs must unfortunately. And same for sleepyhead they aren't recommended but I tried for 5 weeks to keep putting her down. Tried heating the bed tried using my clothing tries putting her down asleep and drowsy. None of it worked

@Kerry honestly, the 4th trimester os super hard and worse form some babies than others. Do you have a white noise machine? We use ollie the Owl and it has heartbeat and lullabies on it as well, maybe something like that whole you have her next to you, cuddling, could help? With my eldest, we used to have to swaddle her, feed her, cuddle her with white noise on, then once she dropped off we would hold her for 20 minutes and then pop her in her bassinet and we could usually get at least an hour or 2 out of her. Could try a calpol plug in and snuffle baby if you think it would help her congestion? It's all about trial and error with these babies, you're doing great and it will get better

I was also going to suggest the RockIt if their pram is sleep safe, my little boy refuses to sleep if he's not on me, but will now sleep in his pram with the rockit on

Pram is sleep safe but she doesn’t like to be in it too long, even while shopping or out for a walk, if it’s too long she just cries, I always have to have sling with me so when it gets too much I have to carry her😂 I’ve got a very, very needy baby, so I guess it’s just going to take some time to resolve it! I don’t think it helps that it is just her and I, 24/7, but I know we’ll get there, just need some sleep😂 waiting impatiently for my sisters holiday to be over so she can take her for a few hours 😂

We're the same, little one will not sleep anywhere but on me. She cries within 4 secs of being put down and even if she has been asleep for 30 mins will still wake up and cry if I put her down. It's exhausting and although I know it's completely normal for a baby not to want to be separated from mum, sometimes I need to eat or go to the bathroom. I don't have any magic solutions but you're not on your own with this baby behaviour!

my son sounds a lot like your daughter! In hospital he refused to settle in that plastic cot thing and would only settle if I held him. Once we came home his Next2Me was already set up, I was exhausted and tried putting him in there and he was having none of it! My gf had to hold him so I could shower, then I had to hold him so she could shower. I had him in the cradle hold breastfeeding in my pregnancy pillow in bed and went to sleep! We made it through the whole night as he had the breast to sooth himself if he woke. That has been our night every night now for 10 weeks! I will play with the position a bit, let him lay in my arms along my body, across my stomach but not on my chest as he can’t access my boob there lol.
Honestly, just co-sleep with her and as she gets older she will tolerate being put down a little more. For 10 weeks my son has been held the whole way! He only likes the carrier when going out and will lay on his play mat now but refused before.

Is she moving her legs up and down a lot when you put her down? Does she suffers of colic? My daughter does, and I was having the same issues you described. I was giving her infacol but it wasn't working, so I started giving her gripe water and gave her a dummy. I do other things during the day to help with colic like massages, tummy time and warm baths. And for the last 3 days she has been sleeping long naps 4hours and only wakes up once a night. Hope you can find something to help you 🙏

As far as I’m aware she doesn’t have colic, she’s really good with winding, if I can’t wind her, she ends up burping herself about 5 mins later! But when she’s crying when laying down she is kicking her legs about and waving her arms! I’m taking her to the doctors asap as even in the car tonight, she screamed constantly for about 20 minutes, which is unusual! She also only poos every other day or sometimes even longer!
