My little one is currently on formula, but she is nearly 1 so she needs to be on cows milk. Does anyone have any advice about how to transition them onto cows milk? She already has it in her breakfast just not in her bottle.

You can do a straight swap or do it gradually, I’ve been advised to do it gradually as my lo was refluxy and sicky baby so I’ll be doing 5oz formula then topping up with cows milk and dropping an oz each time till she’s completely on cows milk x

We need to start the transition soon too. Do you all heat your cows milk at any time I.e for the bedtime milk. Also, how do you take it around with you on trips out do you just use a flask?

I did it gradually..
So week 1, I did 25% cows and 75% formula
Week 2, I did 50/50
Week 3, 75% cows 25% formula and week 4 100% cows.

@Tina I take milk in a cool bag with ice blocks in.
I'm very lucky that baby has been happy to drink cold milk.
If yours doesn't drink it cold. You could buy the ready to drink cartons that don't need to be refrigerated 🤷🏻♀️ it'll be room temp vs cold

I make a bottle of formula with the kettle (usually about 90ml/3 scoops), then cool it with cows milk so it’s perfect warm temp

I’ve just been doing half and half, so much quicker to make a bottle now as you don’t need to cool it down 🤣

About a week before her first birthday I started to mix half and half with her formula she's still on 3 bottles.
She currently has a mixed 7oz in the morning, 5oz of pure cows milk around 2pm before a nap, then before bed another mixed 7oz.
Her formula is almost gone now, it's been about 2/3 weeks of mixing it in and I won't be buying another tin will just go straight to pure cows milk then hopefully drop that middle bottle x

I just did a straight swap the day after her first birthday. Straight from the fridge into her normal bottle and she drank it absolutely fine. We were the same as you, she only had it in her breakfast and in cooking before now x
