I have a baby girl, about a month old. She is typically great during the day, doesn’t cry too much. However, after her late afternoon nap and into the evening before she falls asleep for the night, she starts to get extremely fussy. She will start wailing like she’s in pain, back arching and will want to feed on my breast. She will feed for a bit and then get frustrated and start pushing away and begin wailing again. I’ll change her position pick her up put her down etc, again she will want to eat so i put her on my breast until she starts wailing and pushes off again, and latches back on. this continues for a few hours until she finally goes down for the night.
i’m not sure if she’s in pain, or if there’s something else that needs attention here - is anyone experiencing the same?

Yes, it is called the “witching hour” our pediatrician told us about it. There is nothing you can do, just try to calm her as much as possible. She told us it gets better around 3 months old.

I’m not sure what that is but I just assume baby might be gassy. So I try gas relief stuff and bicycles on legs to help. It usually helps.

Witching hour 😳 My son does this between 4am and 10am. It's exhausting

It could be colic ... have a read up see what you think x

Try going outside, running baby’s head under warm water, walking around the house. All things I have heard help with witching hour. Happens to us every couple of days too

We started our witching hours this week too 🤪 about 6-9pm. It’s right before my 18 month old goes to bed so I’m always upset because I’m dealing with baby and don’t get to spend time with her.
