So my milk came in yesterday and wow 😂 … although I appreciate the free boob job, they are feeling very full and hard. I’d like to start pumping at some point firstly so that my partner can begin bottle feeding breast milk and secondly for a bit of relief! I know there are considerations with regards to supply/nipple confusion etc so I wanted to ask some advice on when others thought it would be suitable to begin pumping? My baby seems to have got the hang of the latch pretty quickly so I am not too concerned about nipple confusion at this stage.

I would pump when you are ready, I was pumping in the hospital so my partner could bond with our lb

You could hand express a little to let off the pressure before baby nurses. My baby cluster fed as when he was first born. It's so amazing how our bodies know to produce exactly what baby needs when they need it. You could pump a little to release the "pressure" too which would help prevent baby from choking as well. Kudos to you! Just think once released they fill again. Depending on how long since baby fed, they may fill a little less but in these beginning days your body and baby are trying to develop the system that works. Congratulations 🎉

Depending on how far you are pumping can cause early labour, have you considered hand pumping or harvesting colostrum?
If you feel that you'll produce alot you could hand pump into a sterile bottle and freeze it ready for babies arrival xx

Harvesting is literally 'liquid gold' if you can freeze and store it it's fantastic when baby gets colds or poorly as its full of nutrients xx

I'm going through the same thing. I'll be flying to Scotland with LO who will be 3weeks old and want to have options whilst at the airport.
I've got a hakka and I'm going to see how I get on with that. When my milk came in on Wednesday I managed to get 2oz which felt amazing as I was soooo engorged!
