Baby girl is 16 days old and is screaming ALL day due to trapped wind and colic. Not a dairy/milk intolerance as I’m exclusively breastfeeding. She’s on infacol before every feed and we’ve tried bicycle legs, tummy massage and other things. Any advice welcome?

Dairy allergy/intolerance. We had it (and so many mums on here), even if no other symptoms, eliminating dairy if BF or trying dairy free formula helped so many babies

Warm baths,
Dentinox colic drops

The Frida baby “windi” was a life saver for us - helped our girl release gas and feel better SO quickly
Also just know it gets better ❤️ colic was SO SO SO rough for us, but is completely fine now and she’s happy and sleeps like a champ. Bright and less tearful days are coming - you’re doing a great job Mama, even though it feels really tough right now

We found Infacol made our boy’s colic worse in the very early days. When I looked it up, it actually works by binding the air bubbles together and bringing it all up at once and he just found it so difficult to pass such a huge amount of wind at one time. We tried Colief drops in his bottle instead and they seemed to work better. Sending lots of best wishes and support xx

Thoughts are with you! The only thing that worked for our baby who suffered terribly with colic was gripe water....works like a charm! Good luck

My son had horrific colic, we bought colief from a pharmacy and it really helped and he was also changed over to a prescribed formula for a milk allergy

Could be silent reflux could be worth seeing gp for baby gaviscon or similar

It could still be allergy related if breastfeed as it passes through. If dirty nappies are okay (no mucus or blood) or other symptoms to suspect CMPA allergy, is latch good? Air intake can be caused by many sources such tension, feeding positions and oral dysfunction such as tongue tie

Colief - I found that to be way more effective than Infacol

Sending you a virtual hug 🤗 my little one was terrible with it too! I found gripe water was the only thing that worked but still didn’t eliminate it! Just know it gets better!!

I remember this so well it’s horrendous! We tried everything and the only thing that seemed to work for us was starting a probiotic which we still use everyday now (boy is 20months) I would recommend looking into it I’m not quite sure how old my boy was when we started it tbh. We found white noise helped distract him as well and he would settle but only with me. It’s awful to see them so unsettled 😔 xx

Windi was the only thing that helped. It was so painful to watch my baby hurt. He’s 2 months now and has grown out of it thankfully

As mad as this sounds, sit her up right on one knee, one hand under chin and other on her back and rotate her in a circle. This was the only way i could get trapped wind up from my little boy. X

Dentinox was a life saver for us, also classical piano music! 😂

I second the Frida Baby Windi Sticks those were a lifesaver for us. Also Infant's Mylicon after every feeding helped so much with the prevention side of things.

My little one was the same, horrible colic and infacol kinda worked but not fully. Then we got assessed and found out he had a tongue tie about 2 weeks after that he was inconsolable and refused to feed and more mucus in his poo, so we went to A&E as per 111 instructions. They told us he had reflux and sounds like a dairy/soya allergy that then has been confirmed since and we are exclusively breastfeeding. 2 weeks of being dairy/soya free and using gaviscon for reflux and a laxative to stop him getting constipation side effect and our grumpy boy turned into a very happy little chap.

For those who used colief did you have the bottles warm or at room temperature? Ive been using it for nearly a week now and my baby still seems unsettled. I got gripe water that seemed to help slightly, but he still doesn’t seem himself. He wants the bottle but will pull away and cry/stiffen up. He has screamed after 2 mins of been put down. Im going to speak to health visitor tomorrow as not sure what else to try.

Big culprit for us was cheese, spicy food, caffeine, sugary drinks, chocolate. I limited all of these until she was about 1month then used gripe water which helped a lot. It will pass once the digestive system becomes more advanced. Fennel tea has also helped you can make your own by buying a bag of fennel seeds and seeping or get mama hottea sold on Amazon. Lots of bicycle movement every morning and evening even if it doesn’t seem to be helping, if you have a yoga ball try holding her and bouncing it soothed our girl and put her to sleep in those times when she was in pain… x

I used a certain hold that stopped the crying for a bit as nothing else did. Place baby on your forearm tummy down and scrunch the legs up to bubs stomach. I think there’s videos of the hold on tiktok/ YouTube. If you’re want to message me I will try and find it for you x

If you are exclusively breast feeding then it depends on what you are eating. You should not eat or drink anything which makes gas. This is what I was told.
