Awake windows 7 week old

Hello

How long are your awake windows and how long are they napping for how/where?

Just trying to understand if I'm doing something wrong as always feels like I'm trying to get my little one to sleep?!

Our LB is 7 weeks old and his wake windows range from an hour to three hours
We’ve been told this is normal so not to worry
We just find ways to entertain him as he’s awake longer such as reading, using flash cards etc. ☺️

Hi 👋🏼 my little girl is 7 weeks old and I have noticed that she is harder to get to sleep for naps recently. She used to just fall asleep on me when she needed to but now I feel like I have to rock her for quite a while for her to nap even though she’s definitely tired. She normally naps for anywhere between half an hour to 3 hours just depends on what kind of sleep she’s having (deep sleep or light sleeping) and what’s going on around her but she is quite good at sleeping through noise as I always have the tv or something on when she naps in the day and have since she was born to promote good sleeping skills. She will mostly nap on me either while I hold her or by baby wearing as she’s hard to get down and I feel she sleeps so much better that way. Her wake windows are about an hour and a half long I would say but can vary.

Wake windows vary - sometimes he’s awake for an hour and a half sometimes he will fall straight back to sleep after feeding. He has slept more the last few days due to the heat. He can fall asleep in his Moses basket or sometimes he prefers to sleep on me then I’ll put him in his basket. I’ll read to him, use his flash cards, baby gym or put music on while he is awake 😄

@Rebecca yeh mine is so hard to get to sleep... always has been yo be fair 🙈 I have to rock her, white noise and pat her bum every hour 🙈

Yeah we were shocked too but he’s quite content, he babbles to himself and has started to smile now
We just go with it unless he shows signs of being overtired which isn’t often x

sounds like you have a good napper there!

@Kayleigh this is great... but yes defo if he's content no issue. Mine gets grumpy as an hour being awake approaches 🙈

I’ve just been going with his cues and letting him tell me, so when he’s yawning or pulling his ears I put on his white noise and get him to sleep. Sometimes it’s 10 mins he’s awake between naps other times it’s about 90 mins but usually no longer than that. Certainly if he’s awake longer than 2 hours we are in for a shit night 😂

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
