Do I need to inform work once baby arrive?

So ladies.. situation is as such
I am on leave wk 38-39, maternity starts wk 40. May be induced wk 38 or 39. M told maternity starts straight away when baby arrives. Holidays get cancelled and can be taken next year. So makes me wonder that I need to inform or not when baby arrives. I don’t want maternity to start earlier.
Thanks

I got a letter from HR acknowledging the date I would like to start my mat leave and confirming my return to work date.

It also said I must inform them if the baby arrives before the date I'm due to start mat leave.

So even if you are on AL when the baby is born you have to inform them if baby is born earlier so they can recalculate mat leave for you.

Your mat leave starts the date you leave work, not the date baby arrives

What I mean is the date of when your mat leave starts, that's without using annual leave which most people do
