My baby is 16 weeks, 17 on Friday and I’m really struggling with his nighttime sleep. He’s never ever slept more than 3 hours but last night he was up every hour from 1:30, sometimes less than an hour. He naps fine, all be it for only 30-40 mins unless it’s contact but all his naps are in his cot, he is held/rocked to sleep, put down when drowsy and goes off lovely. We have a bedtime routine and follow an app to ensure his wake windows are met, prevent over tiredness etc. whyyyyyyy is he so bad at sleeping at night time 😫

Hey
My eldest was exactly the same and this is what actually led me to become a sleep consultant as I found this age so difficult.
It sounds like you are doing amazing but it doesn’t make things easy. There is a lot about wake windows and they can be really great as a rough guide but that’s as far as I would say they are good for.
Again so much going on at this age. Their sleep biologically changing, lots of development such as rolling and hand to mouth movement. Really normal for this age to be quite unpredictable look at how much sleep he is getting over a 24 hour period and try to have good sleep hygiene if you wish!
Apps can be useful but they can often cause a lot of stress ❤️❤️

Thank you. Any tips/advice to get through this? Or methods to try to get him to self soothe better? Thanks x
