Chicken pox or hand foot & mouth?

Where were the first spots? Is she scratching them? I would say it’s a bad case of hand foot and mouth as it doesn’t look like she has spots on her torso x

she has like one or two on her torso, and about 5 on her back. Her dad had chicken pox when he was younger only on his legs, no where else, so I think it’s possible! I’m hoping it’s chicken pox so its done and dusted 🤞🏼x

This was my son with an incredibly severe case of HFM. The worst the hospital had seen a few years ago!

It was more prominent around the mouth, but he had it on his arms and legs too, weirdly not his feet, but he did on his hands.

that’s just awful! Your poor boy 🥺 I bet you felt so helpless! How long did it take to clear up and does it cause any other symptoms? My LO just started nursery and HFM is one of the things I’m really hoping he doesn’t get x

we ended up taking him to hospital purely because it started spreading so rapidly. He also developed a secondary bacterial infection around his mouth due to the severity. The hospital warned us he would be really unwell etc. but honestly he didn’t even notice bless him. He just powered through it. Probably took a good few weeks to fully disappear but it was bad. The worst bit was the antibiotics for the bacterial infection. That was torture but the HFM didn’t bother him. I did get some abuse taking him to Sainsbury’s though as a man had a go at me. Even though he was in his pushchair fast asleep and not touching anything. Xx

I think it looks more like hand foot and mouth cluster spots. I’ve seen cases like this loads of times as I work in a nursery setting. Are they around bum/nappy area, as they tend to excrete through stools

Definitely looks more like HFM. If it was chicken pox there would be spots on her torso. I took my son to the doctors on Monday with spots in the same place as your daughters. His are a lot less severe and turns out it’s sun rash. Although the pharmacist was 100% certain it was chicken pox. I’d get a 2nd opinion if you’re worried. But either way HFM, chicken pox, sun rash all clear up on their own

Ps. My sons hands and feet are now peeling really bad. It was horrible 😢
