Storing my Pram

I’m collecting my pram on Saturday and I’ve been told by so many people it’s bad luck to keep it in your house! What’s everyone’s thought? Do you have yours already or have you chosen to keep it at a family members? 🤔

I have mine already and all set up ready x

We got our pram quite early compared to most & we’ve always had it at home as we didn’t have anywhere else to store it x

Avatar

Mines built and in the spare room 😃 I’m not superstitious at all

Avatar

I put mine up to make sure everything is there but put it back in the box as was worried my self I’m putting it up in 3 weeks time when I’m 37 weeks my mate put a teddy in hers because apparently it’s only if you have an empty pram in the house it’s then classed as bad luck so if your really worried but want to get it ready then you could put a teddy in the pram

Avatar

My granny wont let me have it in my house until baby is here 😅

Avatar

Never heard of such a thing 😅 at home and all set up 🤗

Honestly I think it’s a load of rubbish but each to their own! This is my second baby so our bassinet pram has been stored in the loft so not sure what the superstition ‘rules’ are around that 😂

Avatar

It's an old wives tale that it mustn't pass the threshold. So we took our round the back and straight into our garage.
Other then that ask a family member to store it x

Avatar

I'm 36 weeks and only ordered our pram on Monday evening. Ours will be at my in-laws x

Avatar

Been in our house since week 22

Avatar

I’ve got mine in my kitchen, it’s an old superstition I didn’t worry about

Avatar

I've never heard of this before. Does the same count for nursery furniture or car seats? We've built the changing table, put the car seat in the car, and picked the pram up last week, and it's been sitting in our living room 😃

Avatar

I’ve got mine in the house, I kept it in the garage with my first born until the week before I had her but this time around it’s already in the house 🤣 x

Avatar

I'd be surprised if the proximity of an inanimate object designed to be use for your baby any effect on your pregnancy. I've had mine for months and baby is happy and healthy wiggling away all the time 🥰 x

Avatar

Thanks ladies! I can be quite superstitious but I think I’ll keep it at mine as I don’t want the hassle of needing it and it being somewhere else! 😂

Avatar

Mines in the shed, we have a few baby things at my dads house but just because we're moving to that area and it's easier than having to move them with all the rest of our stuff

Avatar

Ours is in the box in the garage as there’s nowhere to even keep it in the house 🥲

Avatar

I’m still waiting for mine, should come next week but my mother in law will not let me have it in our house she’s very superstitious and isn’t having any of it😂 luckily she only lives at the end of our road!

Avatar

Mine is set up at my Mum's. She was really superstitious about it.

Avatar

It’s just a superstition hun, do whatever you need to do with it x

Avatar

We didn’t buy it it because i am suspicious I wish didn’t here about it this tale
… The pram we want to get it’s available on the next day delivery so we will get it after baby arrival 😅😅😅
We also don’t much space

Avatar

Ours has not long arrived and it will stay here at home. It’s our first baby so we’ve invested in a robust travel system which we’ll certainly be keeping it at home for any subsequent children

Avatar

Mines togethers in the baby’s nursery, it’s just old wives tales x

Avatar

We've had ours in the house for weeks, we have to get the dog used to walking with it. I'm not really superstitious at all, how can the pram be bad luck but not the moses basket etc?! I wouldn't worry! ☺️

Family culture difference on money

Sorry this is long, I hope some of you get to the end and give advice!!!

So I’m a very thrifty person, things are tight at the moment, the cost of living crisis and my house is heated by oil so things are extortionate. We aren’t on the bread line but we aren’t flush, hubby might be made redundant so there is some financial pressure.

Sometimes I buy my sons something nicer, on the justification that I can sell it on after (♥️ vinted ♥️). I have also been planning on pretty much breaking even most of the baby things I bought from face book market place, side by crib, baby changing unit, etc.

Hubby and I have different money cultures with our families (he’s Indian, I’m British). I’m my family we don’t mix money, we would help each other out if someone was in trouble and will get each other gifts on special occasions. With hubby’s family money is much more fluid, they will give each other things worth thousands of £ just because.

Hubby’s brother bought him a new laptop and a new Google phone, he’s been very generous to hubby. Hubby hasn’t given the same back because brother is much richer.

Hubby and I mostly share finances. If it’s relevant I’m the higher earner.

Now to the point! My babies are so cute they’ve given hubby’s brother (currently single) baby rabies. He’s asked for our baby stuff when we’re done with it. He’s been so generous to hubby I feel really stingy saying no. But I’d never have bought some of the stuff if I wasn’t going to get a return on it - the thought makes me a bit anxious. If we gave all our baby stuff given the second hand value it still wouldn’t equal what the brother had given hubby.

I thought maybe I could give him some stuff but sell some stuff, but hubby said then his brother will just have to go out and buy that stuff, so I should name my price and ask his brother for the money. That makes me feel very uncomfortable, given how generous the brother has been to hubby.

So what do I do ladies? Give it all and suck it up? Give part of it and sell parts on Vinted/FB, or ask hubbys brother for money for it and be uncomfortable? Or do you see another solution?

No one is being entitled or rude here, just a culture difference I need to navigate.

Advice

Hi everyone! I honestly have 0 social queues when it comes to talking to anyone in general. I definitely have a hard time talking to other women and making new friends. I can 100% relate. I just don’t like the idea of texting or meeting up but when I do I’m like “oh this isn’t bad.” Any advice? I also have a hard time getting comfortable and just feeling judged by other women😅 I’m also 19 so maybe making a change in this now will help in the future making mom friends/friends in general. Thanks in advance!

My relationship is failing I feel so alone.. I need a girlfriend to talk to :(

I'm a sahm and I feel so stuck... anyone going through the same thing? I could really use someone to relate to and talk through this with. Feeling so vulnerable but if I don't I won't be able to pull myself out of this

What are we giving our soon-to-be 3yo for their birthdays?

We have the magnetiles, we have the kinetic sand and play doh, we have the play kitchen…

Literally, is there anything left in the world to buy this spoilt kid? 😅
