Ladies, I need advice!! 🙏🏻 We plan to start IVF in October. I have to decide whether to commit to a single cycle package ($9000) or 3 cycle package ($22,000). Since I’m 43, my doctor suspects I will need three cycles/retrievals in order to have a decent chance.
If I purchase the 3 cycle package, I would save a total of $5000 versus buying 3 individual cycles as I go. ($27,000 vs $22.000) My insurance does not cover IVF so I really need to think this though!
My concern is, what if we commit to the 3 cycles, but learn that my eggs are not good and that we will need to consider a donor egg? That would mean we’re out all the money spent on the 3 cycles and wed have to start from square one with a donor?
There are so many major decisions I need to make within the next few weeks and it’s really stressing me out! What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Hi Sandra, I’m in the UK and started IVF privately when I was 42. They advised me to have a multi-cycle package as the success rate is low. I did several rounds privately over 2yrs and unfortunately hasn’t worked for me so now going down the donor egg route which I must admit financially is a struggle as spent so much already on IVF. If your AMH levels are ok, it might be worth trying the multi cycle as it does work for some.

thanks for your response and sharing your experience! I’m sorry to hear it hasn’t worked out yet after all those attempts. That must be very frustrating and upsetting. 🥲 I sure hope the donor route works out for you in the end! 🙏🏻 They did advise that the success rate is a lot higher when you go with a younger donor rather than your own eggs at this age. I do want to give it a chance though and know I tried so hoping for the best. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 if after 3 rounds there is no success, I’ll have to move on to other options also. One way or another, we’ll get our babies hopefully! 💕💪🏼🤞🏼🙏🏻

Thanks and we’ll definitely have our babies 😊. I hope your treatment goes well and 3 cycles is a good choice as then got several chances of success. I’m so pleased I did several rounds despite the struggle with the cost as know I’ve done everything and tried and it can happen with your own eggs. The clinic I was with a lady had a baby at 47 with her own eggs. x

that’s great to hear that the 47 year old had success! I really pray we get our prayers answered!
