Do first time moms get sleep with the newborn at all? I’m scared hearing all these stories while my pregnancy. My sleep is very essential to me as it keeps me sane. Also any tips handling the sleep situation 🫶

Honestly the best tip I can give you (and everyone differs on this) is to trust your instincts. What works for someone else isn't necessarily going to work for you. Sleep is very important to me as well and the best way that I was able to get sleep was to put my baby on a schedule as soon as possible. You should follow @takingcarababies on IG. She has programs you can buy and tips all about baby sleeing. She seriously made my life 💯 easier and I still implement what I learned to this day and it seriously works. There are other people who teach this but I really liked her best. Not gonna lie no matter what you're gonna get less sleep with a baby, that's just how it goes. But if you can make the most out of your time to get the rest you need, then I would highly recommend a schedule. You got this 🫶❤️

I did it and it worked very well for me.. I found it actually helped them & me sleep better and longer than placing them in a bassinet but everyone's different.

@Debbie it helped me to sleep more co sleeping also. I used the bassinet in the beginning but ended up using this enclosure we had to sleep with him since mine hated the crib. It saved my sleep by so much

I actually heard that co sleeping is the best. I’m scared what if the baby will fall etc

me toooo!! The bassinet only survived about 3 months on and off til I switched my kids completely to cosleeping and eventually their cribs.

@Yana it might be a little unorthodox by we ended up using a large baby playpen and putting a mattress inside to co sleep. There's plenty of room and actually very comfortable. I tried the crib and he hated how small it was and kept running into the bars. He is almost 2 now so he sleeps on his own but still uses it. So if he wakes up crying in the middle of the night I can still lay down with him and he can't get out either. Seriously best decision I made. We even bought smaller ones to keep at the grandparents when we travel too

wow this is really helpful thank you!

@Yana just trust yourself and what's work best for you and you're gonna do amazing

How did y’all get your baby on a sleeping schedule? I have a two month baby boy and his sleep is all over the place 🥲

Everyone here is so positive! Imma keep it real... most likely no you won't get sleep again till the 3mo mark lol. Everyone is different of course but newborns tend to sleep 2-3 hrs at night before they're up again. Change, feed, burp, (possibly change again cuz they love pooping in clean diapers) rock back to sleep, then you have to fall asleep immediately to get the full 2 hrs in. It's tough. You eventually get used to the sleep deprivation and function off 4 broken hrs sleep. Some moms are blessed w newborns that sleep 6-8 hrs. Luck of the draw. I didn't get lucky and got post partum anxiety so even when baby started sleeping 11-5 I would lay awake even when exhausted for hours thinking of crazy stuff like what I would do if I woke up to a fire. Smh 🙄

@Maria I followed the guidance and steps of Taking Cara Babies. The main premise is going by the baby's wake windows and setting up the sleeping space for success (like a sound machine, dark room) Like my kid is almost 24 months and his wake window is anywhere from 5.25 to 5.75 hours, which starts from the time he wakes up to the next time he needs to go to sleep. That way you avoid an over tired kid and they go to sleep much easier since he knows what to expect. And you can set it up to go based on your schedule. Even with following it mine did not take good naps until he hit almost a year but he has always been a great night sleeper and has been sleeping the full 8 to 10 hours unless he's going thru a regression which only lasts a few days. So if he didn't take a nap or a short one I would adjust the wake window time and he would go to sleep earlier. There's always an exception of course, it doesn't work for every baby but it's worked wonders with mine and it's never too late to get started

Once we left the hospital our first two nights were rough (baby awake every hour) after that though he started sleeping in 2-4 hour stretches and by 1 month we were getting 4 hour stretches consistently, by 3 months he started sleeping 6 hour stretches, and we often get a full 8 hours now at 5 months
