I’m trying to figure out how severe my DR is. I noticed my belly isn’t completely round, and now all I can think about is DR. Any other mommies see this too or have an idea of what to look out for with my movements?
Attached a photo of my belly I’ll be 32 weeks tomorrow.
My linea nigra is curved btw

My OB said you wont know how bad the recti is until after you have delivered but he did tell me to avoid crunch style movements while getting on and off the couch or in and out of bed.

I hate surprises 😂 I guess I’ll just have to wait. I feel like I don’t crunch a lot but my belly says otherwise. Thank you!

Not just crunch, roll completely to your side with knees and ankles together and use your arm to push yourself up! I had 4 finger DR and hernia last pregnancy, we’ll see how this one goes

I roll to get up but I feel like I can see my core still engaged when I do certain task. To me it’s natural but then I see my belly getting smaller and I’m like oh no not again 🥲.

It’s okay to engage your core! It’s more about managing the pressure inside the abdomen. Either way, if you know now you may have an issue with it, I’d book with a PT for 6 weeks postpartum. I was able to do electro stim with my PT and we fixed my gap in about 2 1/2 months.
