Growth scans - is this normal?

I’m 34+3 and at my appointment on Monday the midwife told me I was measuring at 32 which was the same as at my 31-week appointment (which I had at 31+5). She referred me for a growth scan but when the date came through it’s not until the 3rd October at which point I’ll be 36+1.

This is my first baby and trying to work out if others have to wait that long for a growth scan? Baby’s heartbeat was fine and not worried with his movements as he’s very active, but just want to know how long others waited for?

Yeah growth scans for me at first were every 4 weeks and then went to 2

Hey I’m 37 weeks and I always get told I’m measuring small but I’m 5ft9 and my baby’s have more room long ways at my last scan last week (36 weeks) they said my baby was already 5.10 and got another scan on my due date if she’s not here but mine were pre booked at 12 weeks but I think it’s because they like to do growth scans at 32,34,36 and 40 weeks so could be because of that however I would call them and ask them if they have anything sooner if your worried x

I imagine it’ll be to graph how much baby is growing between scans. I’ve been having growth scans every 2/3 weeks.

If they were more concerned they would have you in sooner for more regular checks 😊

Thank you! The question was more around should I be waiting two weeks for a growth scan when I hadn’t grown in a few weeks. Called the scan department and they were less than helpful! But thanks for the responses so far - feel reassured

I was measured big at 32 weeks and I'd already had a growth scan booked for 36 . My midwife told me that she was not concerned as baby was active and had a good heartbeat. So she didn't see the need in bringing the date forward. im currently 38 +4 I had a consultant appointment at 38 and because he measured my bump and it had dropped on the chart. He got me in for a growth scan the next day. Each time they have measured my bump its been off compared to the growth scan .

I think our department try to scan within 72 hours if ? reduced growth. Depends what your chart is looking like.

You shouldn’t be waiting that long. I got told they want to see you within 72 hours usually. The same day my midwife referred me, I got a text with my appointment for the following day.

My midwife told me if the bump measurement is off the expected size (smaller)then the growth scan must be booked to happen within 72 hours. I was trying to push it back bcz I wasn't worried and I was on duty on the Monday (would have been 72hrs after bump measurement).

sorry to hear you have had to deal with an unhelpful group of professionals! 🤗😓

Hi, I had the same issue and had to wait a week and a half. The midwife measurements aren’t really accurate so I wouldn’t worry.

I had my midwife appointment yesterday and my bump hasn’t grown since my last appointment 2 weeks ago so they sent me for a growth scan this morning. They said they try to get people in within 72 hours normally

Avatar

Thanks everyone for your comments! I thought it should be within the week at least but I know I’m at a really busy hospital so they probably aren’t overly worried. I’m going to keep monitoring baby’s movements and if anything worries me I’ll try and go in

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?

Movements

I’m 28 weeks tomorrow. Yesterday I had loads and loads of movements but today I have only felt small flutters and a couple of kicks throughout the day. I get so confused as some people say they don’t have a pattern but others say they do. We have a Doppler so used it this evening and could hear the heartbeat and then moving but does anyone else get quieter days of movement than others? I am seeing my midwife tomorrow so will check but just find myself getting anxious about it and don’t know when to get checked. I know they encourage it but last time as soon as I got to triage baby started moving loads!
