This will be my first baby too, and I was HORRIFIED of birth, I will say though, educating myself and learning more about birth, options, techniques, and how our bodies are designed for birth has been so empowering! I try to stay away from the fear mongering and immerse myself in positive birth stories and experiences. You got this momma! 🩷

I know it’s hard especially when people try to scare you but I will say just doing the best you can to put yourself in a positive headspace helps A TON! I didn’t have an epidural with my first (just my choice, nothing against it at all just no experience with it) but my mom did for me and my two siblings (obviously 20+ years ago but still) and she said it really does take away a lot of the pain and leaves you mostly with pressure. I did utilize Nitrous Oxide while I was pushing (not sure if you can combo that with the epidural) and it made me feel very calm during what was sort of a chaotic happening. I had a very quick/easy labor/delivery but with how quick it all happened it felt a bit chaotic but it was still magical. I felt so empowered after and you literally forget what you just went through almost immediately after they put that sweet baby on your chest🥰 You got this mama, just be positive!!

I get this! This is my second pregnancy and the first time I was so scared of the whole process and it doesn’t help that all you hear are the bad experiences. Keep in mind that people are selfish. And women want to find support and comfort in other women- of course I understand that desire, but it leads to a lot of people sharing unwanted birth stories with the wrong audience.

Thank you so much I’m so glad I posted this

Same here. I plan to go to birth classes when I get closer to mentally prepare myself. Being into sports and in the military, I've learned that a lot of things are 90% mental.

I never wanted to have my own for that reason, always wanted to adopt.. but i realized our bodies are designed to do this. our bodies can do it!! our minds can do it! giving birth is the EASIEST part of parenting. let that settle in. you can handle any amount of pain for a few minutes. and thats all contractions are : pain for a minute or two. your body wont fail you!

Same here this is my first pregnancy I'm 17 +6day right now and have been looking for information about it. I think educating myself to mentally prepare for birth had help ease my anxiety that and being told the truth, it will hurt but as soon as they put the baby on your chest all that pain instantly goes away or at least you won't mind it.

I’m low key scared too.

I thought I was the only who thought about how scary actually giving birth sounds. This is my first baby and I freak out mentally everyday just thinking about it! It’s definitely something you can never truly be prepared for no matter how much preparation you get you know

I'm more so nervous about after lol

You're definitely not alone. I was so excited to find out I was pregnant at my age! Then it hit me, I gotta give birth lol 😆 My therapist said by that time you be so tired of being pregnant you won't care. Just get it out! Lol

agreed!!

I’m TERRIFIED. I want an epidural as soon as I can possibly have it. And honestly if I could elect a c section and know my insurance would pay I WOULD
